Hello Ladies,

I just bought a wedding dress and I need some advice. The wedding gown I just bought is so far from what I ever imagined wearing that I have no idea how to style it and Im afraid Im going to be overdressed at my own wedding!

Our wedding is only three months away and it'll be on the beach at Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta. We want the wedding to be laid back and fun and I wanted something really different for my dress. Monique Lhuillier's Candy in pink was my dream dress but even used that was totally breaking the bank! The dress I bought is called Braxton, by Maggie Sottero (pict below). I love the dress but it's so heavily beaded that it seems too fancy for the venue and the look and feel I had wanted.

I wasn't planning on wearing shoes since we'll be in the sand. Does anyone have any other suggestions for dressing down my gown? hair, make up, veil, flowers, etc? Im not even sure about the wedding colors anymore. I had been thinking pinks, peaches, corals with gold but now Im not sure. I also posted a pict of the original bouquet that I wanted in those colors but I think its too bright for the dress. :(  We go to visit the site in two weeks and I'll need to make all of these decisions.

Thanks!!

hi there!

what a GORGEOUS dress!

I think you can still use the colors you'd want, but I'd go a little more sleek and simple with the bouquet. I'm not sure you can dress down that that dress, other than being barefoot! it's totally glamorous. that isn't a BAD thing, just go with it - it is a dreamy dress!!!! just because it's a beach wedding, doesn't mean you can't wear that fab dress.

keep your hair loose and down, and accessories simple. rustic might be a challenge given the glam factor - but that doesn't mean you can't pair a casual-elegant look. take a look at Style Me Pretty and their casual-elegant category of weddings for some inspiration.

here's one I like:

and I love this beach wedding too:

bottom line? be you. do what you want for your big day. employ the "so what" and just go for it!!

You can always go minimal with your bouquet and have the pink for everything else! My gown was very heavily beaded and I loved it!  Do whatever you want, it's your day!  The most important thing is that you are happy!

Gorgeous dress! I'm with the other ladies, wear what makes you feel like a bride. I do agree that your original bouquet may be too fancy...I picture maybe calla lilies or something white and simple for your bouquet. Maybe even light pink peonies or something? Hair I can picture a loose bun with that dress in a beach setting. Best of luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
