I'm dealing directly with the hotel bc we are using our friend's membership. We haven't booked or created a roomgroup booking yet. Now they are saying that not just will I NOT get the nights countd towards my room nights of the wedding benefits, BUT also that anyone that books outside of their 'group booking' will have a charge of $55 for the reception and $22 for the cocktail!!! Even though they will be staying at the hotel!!!! Has anyone heard of this?? Seen it before? They are driving me crazy.
Is this what u are reading??

CTlind - Yes, that is what I am being told, no document yet. I think it's ridiculous. What document is that in the pic?. Can you send it to me? [email protected] I will qualify, most likely, for unlimited free events. I can have 'unlimited guests' (I've verified this). So...if they are through the group booking there is no extra charge, if they aren't then there is. It should only matter if they are guests at MP or not. As far as memeber weddings, we would be member guests, all my guests are also memeber guests if they book through the memeber group booking. Great rates and benefits for those staying 7 nights or more, but not for those 3 night stays. All the wedding 'amenities' apply. And like with non-memeber bookings, if people book out of the group booking, their room nights don't count towards your count. I'll write to Tammy and see if she can help. I haven't signd a contract yet. They are so amazing at the hotel itself. But it's so hard to deal with the sales people. Thanks

Hello Ladies!! Okay, so I am trying to decide on a welcome dinner location. We are staying at the sunrise section and I was given the option for terraces or inside ballroom.  I am thinking venado terrace or the Tucan terrace.  Any suggestions on which one or any reason not to go with those?

Also, I am thinking about the Mexican buffet for this.  Any advice on if the Mexican option is good?  Same with the Italian (I am thinking about this for the actual reception).

:)

Also, on the document it states a 50 person max. but I am having more than 50 guests.  Has anyone gone through this and were they limited to only inviting 50 people or did they have more than 50. I am not 100% that ALL of my guests will attend the welcome dinner, but I have to be prepared incase they do. I always say....better safe than sorry!

Hi Julie, I just got back from there. Both terraces are beautiful. You can't go wrong with either. I'm not sure about the menus (I don't have them yet), but the main buffet option (Bugambilia buffet) is Mexican, and there is a Mexican speciality restaurant. So, you may want to consider that. Same goes for the Italian I guess (1 a-la-carte in Sunrise and the speciality one at the golf Course). I haven't heard about the event limit. I'm just now dealing with the contract, and would be forever grateful if you could send me the document with the people limit for a welcome Dinner (or any other document). I have asked multiple times if there are limits on the number of guests for the free events and they have said no. My email is [email protected] Thanks! :)

I've gotten the standard $800 outside vendor line, too. You may want to check the 2013 and before boards for how this went for other brides. It's all the help I can think of now. Good luck and tell us what you find out.

Does anyone have any experience with wanting to book an outside vendor? I was told it would cost me $800 to bring a musician on site!

We had our welcome dinner at the Venado terrace and it was perfect! Quite and secluded since it's on the grand side and we had the mexican menu for our wedding and it was delicious! :)

In the experience of some of our wedding couples, the Moon Palace has told them they have a policy of no outside vendors. However, they have been allowed to get around this by saying they are bringing in their own "guest" to photograph their wedding.

They may require that "guest" to have a day pass, or be booked into the hotel for the night. That is just how they do things, but it's possible to bring in your photographer as your "guest".

Here in Mexico, policies can change without notice, so we're just sharing what our experience has been so far, and our artist-photographers have been that "guest" often.....fyi :)

Hoping it all works out smoothly, and your Special Day is Awesome!!! Cheers :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
