I am with you on this... my FI has been ready and just waiting for me for the past while I am sure that he wants to do it and get on with it, and I wanted to be married first and then after the proposal I wanted to wait over a year so that we could do destination, we better have a honeymoon baby or he is going to have to wait even longer! LOL

We were thinking of hosting an AHR so hey- why not? Prior to planning my destination wedding I entered a ton of wedding contests- I don't know if this makes me 1) a little wee bit of a loser 2) a little wee bit of a cheapskate 3) A wedding addict 4) all the above. Honestly- my philosophy is if you can get it free why not. But I did worry that asking people to vote for us for too many contests "cheapened" the real value and meaning behind my wedding so I stopped publicizing them and entered private ones. I was a finalist to be a model for a new wedding gown designer and the brides each won a free gown. I was one of 15 finalists but I didn't win- still it was fun to experience. I was also a finalist for a Davids Bridal contest for $2500 cash- but I didn't win that either. Always a finalist never a winner. My fiance is like "I love you but enough already"

But I put him through the ringer one last time. We haven't told anyone and we won't if we win. Our little secret. We are still forging ahead with our wedding in DR because that's the most important to us.

Hope everyone is having a great evening. I have a dog too Abbie- a Jack Russell. I wanted her to be my ring bearer but I refuse to risk traveling with her because they can quarantine the dog if they choose to and then she'd be stuck in DR for 30 days in a cage in an airport. I love her too much for that.

Okay, YAY! Another bride that wanted their darling pup as their flower girl :) Everyone laughs at me when I say this.  I have a Husky cross Boxer and I always said she would be my flower girl walking down the aisle with a "Here Comes the Bride" sign around her neck.  But I too would not bear to take the chance of her being quarantined.  I'm thinking of having her as part of the AHR for the wedding party intro. :)

I'm getting married in Punta Cana, DR and so far- I have not seen the blue/purple orchid in any photos. I do not think they have it there. I googled to see if they did but no answers. My sister is a baker and works next door to a florist. She says they are dyed blue- they don't actually grow that way. They are fed water with a blue dye and the dye travels to the petals and turns it blue. If thats the case- I know my resort has white orchids lol Can I request that they feed the orchid water with blue dye before my wedding? That would probably be a strange request for them.

I am looking for these everywhere as well.  I did find them here but they are silk.   http://www.save-on-crafts.com/blueorchids1.html

Good luck and please let me know if you find them anywhere else ... fake, silk.. whatever :)

Hey ladies!

We've been awfully quiet! What's going on? How did my fellow East Coasters fare in the wake of Hurricane Sandy? I live in the BX and it's eerie because the Bronx was unscathed but everywhere else is a mess. My family and friends in Staten Island, Westchester, and Long Island suffered flooding, power outages, downed trees etc. Thankfully everyone is alive and accounted for but the damage is insane. Also there is a huge gas crisis. My fiance and I filled our tank halfway before the hurricane hit and we haven't driven anywhere so we have gas but the mass majority of gas stations have no gas or the wait is 2 or more hours.

My dress was also in a store in LI in one of the hart hit areas and I worried it was damaged because there was flooding in the area where the salon is located. I felt sheepish calling the salon but I was worried so I called the girl, first asked how the workers were doing, then asked if the store sustained any damage, then asked about my dress, and then apologized for my selfishness. angel1.gif Dress is ok.

Anyway- in the wake of all this craziness I can't wait for my wedding. I have all these ideas and details but I haven't bought anything but my dress! I have a Pinterest and I love lots of things on Etsy but I'm afraid to buy things and have just a clusterwtf.gif of things just laying around.

Hey! Sorry bout your fam ev! Glad your dress is ok though!we were relatively unscathed here in Hampton roads but I did get some flooding into our den, which sucks. I'm not complaining though cause NY and NJ got it really bad. Yup, we have a cluster of crap! Haha our spare room is now referred to as the wedding room! Hope all the other East coasters here made it through Sandy ok:D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
