EmmA, I added you to the bridal roll call.  There will be a ton of May brides in a few short months.  It just takes awhile because packages aren't out in all places yet.  But Superlawer87 is getting married the day after you.

i was in the same boat as you! I think my post was right before yours on here about the price lol I also have set a budget of 10-12k max. We already hired an outside photographer so im hoping that we will still be ok with everything. Its all the add-ons that hike the final cost up so much! The actual packages arent bad is flowers, centerpeices, dj that add up. Does anyone on here know about the dj situation? Like since i wont be needing the photographer from the package can i have dj time insteaD?

I don't know from experience yet, but I hear that they don't let you swap anything out. They do sometimes let you swap out if its something in the same category. For example, she's allowing a lot of us to swap the live music included in the divine package for 2 hours of DJ time. It's doubtful that she'll let you swap the photography for the DJ. I asked her if we can swap out the airport transfer for anything since we won't be needing it as we are traveling with other people and would like to ride with them. She said no... I think it's kind of like a use it or lose it type deal.

Pilar is just so S L O W with responding I've been emailing with her since late February. I attempted to book April 12 and she got back to me 2 weeks later telling me the locations i was requesting were booked and so I emailed her right away for availability for other dates and she has yet to respond and its not about to be a week... I dont know if I'm just getting too anxious but I'm beginning to think maybe I should look into another resort...

Just call Pilar at the resort if you are trying to get your date and spots reserved - that is what we did and it was so much easier.  We called once to get availability during our planned week of travel and then called back a couple days later to book.  She held the booking for 2 weeks (or until we put down our deposit) - again so much easier to do in real time than email!

We had the same problem at first, but then our travel agent just phoned her and we got confirmation within 24hrs. So much easier than waiting for email, it's worth the long distance fees!

I'm exactly a month before you on December 16! We didn't get our first choices for that day, but I think they'll still be great. We're at the Pergola, Orange Lounge and Castaways.

Woo hoo! That's exciting! We had a hard time deciding between the Pergola and the Beach. We ended up choosing the beach because that is where we had our first date.. Cheesey I know! hahahah

yes annetta the communication is really sucky! If you are working with a travel agent you should let them know and they can contact the resort directly it would be much easier! Or if anything i would just buy a phone card and call the resort myself at least just to make sure your date is confirmed..

Yeah we're bringing our own photographer (my BFF is a professional photographer), so that is covered for us also. I'm nervous about the cost of flowers too, we're thinking of trying an outside vendor for that. I've seen a few posts on here that there are some good cheap florists who will deliver to the hotel, fingers crossed that will help. I'm not sure about the dj time though.

Page 2 of this thread.  It lists all the brides in date order so that you can group together with them to share stories, experiences, and even vendors such as flying in photographers.

And there is usually mulitple weddings on the same day and it won't affect you at all.  It's a well oiled machine that they are running down there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
