How did you let family know that you already did the deed ans they should just enjoy the destination ceremony?? Stressed!!!

We just kept stressing to everyone that the wedding is in Cancun in November and that was it - we were not going to have 2 ceremonies......we kinda muttered over that the 'legal paperwork' would be done prior to leaving  with our parents only cause we made the mistake of saying that the wedding was symbolic and we don't need witnesses...... but didn't say much more than that.

We also did the same thing that @MOrdonez mentioned.  We had our civil ceremony in July and only told our immediate family and NO ONE ELSE!  We didn't want to take away from our Nov wedding in Cancun.  We actually still pretended to be engaged.....calling each other fiancés, not wearing our bands yet, I still had my bridal shower and bachelorette party, etc.  We just felt like we personally wanted to "preserve" our moment for our Cancun wedding and if we told ppl about the civil marriage, it would downsize the "feeling" for us and everyone's experience.

So no one ever found out and when Nov came along, and it still was magical.  I honestly feel like I'm officially married now =).  And after the wedding, I spilled the beans to some and told them we were already married since July.  People jokingly were saying that they felt cheated and they came to Cancun for nothing and they would have cancelled their trip if they knew.....all with laughs tho as they were sipping on their umbrella drinks on the beach =) lol.

Same with us--we will get married here in Denver the week before we leave for Cancun, but only our parents will know.  Even when we do it legally at the courthouse, we are opting for the straight signing of paperwork and no actual ceremonial anything there--we definitely want the Christian ceremony in Cancun to be the only real ceremony we have.

Hi everyone! I am curious as to how pictures will work.  My ceremony is at 5:30 and the reception is from 6-9.  However, we want couple and family photos.  When would we take couple photos if the reception starts right after the ceremony?  Has anyone run into this issue. Will they let us not eat dinner until 7 in order to give us time to take photos while the guest are at the reception? Thoughts please!!!!!!!

Hi! I am also in contact with Alina with Floreira Riviera Maya, just waiting on quotes. I have also been in contact with Julieta from Cherry Blossom Flowers art decor in Cancun. She has been great answering my questions and sending me quotes that are within my budget, this is their email address [email protected]. Hope you can find this helpful =)
Thanks! I'll check them out as well. Right now the quotes I'm getting from Floreira are really good. A little over half the price I would've paid if I got the flowers from the resort! :)

Did you search under vendor reviews - There is a few reviews on each of them....I think.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
