  1. Hi ladies!! I know I went missing for a few months but, I was busy with the wedding and trying to make sure everything went ok. I have to say the wedding was absolutely amazing!!! We could not have asked for a better time. It was unforgettable and so many fun, loving memories that will last a lifetime. We had our wedding at the Gran Caribe Real on the beach and the reception on the rooftop. The hired DJ Doremixx and Ivan was the DJ. The photographer/videographer was Octavio Montes and my wedding coordinator at the resort was Diana Rodriquez. Honestly words can't describe how everyone did a fantastic job. There was no stress, no worries and everything we asked for was done from beginning to end. The staff at the Gran Caribe was attentive and friendly. They made sure our stay and our 76 guest were happy and comfortable. After a few days they were calling us by our name. The bartendars knew what we wanted to drink as soon as we stepped up. I had read reviews and I'm not sure what went wrong with the other brides but, I can assure you that I had no worries or concerns the 9 days we were there. Lastly, I could not have done this without using Wright Travel Agency. Virgilia and Wendy helped coordinate everything with the guest and the resort. They literally kept me sane and calm when I wanted to strangle some of the guest. I am not able to post pictures or video's on here so if anyone would like to see them or ask for more details please feel freed to email me [email protected]. Happy planning and good luck to future brides!!! Thanks, Mrs. Christian @@MissFrench How was the wedding?!!!
  2. Good afternoon ladies!! I haven't posted in awhile and want to say congratulations to anybody that has already gotten married and hope everything is going as planned for those that will be soon. My day of July 18th is approaching fast and I can't wait for it to be here. I need a vacation and my life back badly!! lol If anyone needs any advise, have questions or any words of wisdom for me please let me know. I know the next few months I will be freaking out. Happy planning!!
  3. Hi there lovely brides! I am getting married July 2015 at the Gran Caribe Real Resort in Cancun. I can definitely say looking for a Photographer/Videographer was one of the most challenging things. You look at so many websites of pictures and video's and of course everything looks so beautiful. Then you are reading review after review and looking at pricing and it makes the choices that much harder. If you are looking for a Photographer in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya I recommend Octavio Montes. In May my fiancé and I went to Cancun to do a site visit and while there we took the opportunity to meet with Photographers/Videographers. After meeting with about 6 different people we decided on Octavio Montes. We were meeting him just for the Photography but, then he showed us his video's and everything was gorgeous which made the decision easier. One company to do handle all our needs. He listened to what we wanted, was open to our suggestions, worked with us on pricing and is offering a 10% off discount to brides. That definitely helped with our budget. Since we have been back he has been responsive, patient and also accepts Pay Pal. I am grateful for these forums because it's hard planning a wedding that you can't see or experience first hand. Hopefully, this information will help someone else get this task crossed off their "to do" list. Take a look at his work on www.OctavioMontes.com. I will be happy to share the pictures and video of my big day! Happy Planning! Chalonda

  6. Good afternoon ladies, I have been reading comments but, haven't had a minute to write myself. Our wedding is set for July 18,2015 at the Gran Caribe in Cancun. We have confirmed DJ Doremixx and I am currently getting rates from photographers and videographers. I think once those two are decided everything else will be downhill. The only hard part is that I am ready to start buying stuff but, can't do too much until we have more of a headcount. My fiance and I are going on a site visit May 16-19 and also doing a food tasting. I'm thinking once I can see everything it will be easier for me to finish planning as far as the flowers, centerpieces, etc. I will take lots of pictures and share once I return. Happy planning and good luck to all the upcoming brides. I hope everything go smoothly and you enjoy your day. :-) Chalonda
  7. Katie I am getting married July 2015 at the Gran Caribe on the beach and I did my deposit last month. We are planning a site visit in May of next year so hopefully if I am not happy with some things I can choose a plan B. I really wanted to get married in the Gazebo but the max is 60 ppl. I don't think I will have more than that but didn't want to take any chances and then have no reserved place.

I am now glad that he did. Some of the complaints by memory: Not everyone is interested in cigars so they stayed away and didn't utilize. Cigar roller isn't very interactive... people won't ooh and aah over tobacco being rolled. Free cigars offered were presented at the end of the evening so guests still had to pay. Hi, Was thinking about getting a cigar roller and wanted to know if you used one? If so can you send me the information. Thanks Chalonda
  9. We also plan on getting married before we go to Cancun and don't plan on telling any of the guests. Like it was mentioned we didn't want to take away from the "wedding" experience for them.
  10. Hi, I am also in the process of looking for a photographer and videographer. Can someone please send me a copy of the spreadsheet [email protected]. Also, has anyone used a cigar roller? The one offered by the resort is expensive. Thanks!!!
  11. Good afternoon ladies!! It's been awhile since I have been on here but, I wanted to share my good news. I finally made my deposit and secured my date for July 18, 2015 at the Gran Caribe Real. I wanted the Gazebo but the max # of guest was 60 ppl so it will be on the beach at 4pm. The reception will be on the rooftop terrace. Working on securing DJ Doremixx. I just received my wedding contract so once that is signed and sent back I can move on to other decisions. My WC is Ana Perez and so far she has been very good and her response has been timely. I am using the Wright Travel Agency and my agent Virgilia has been great. They do not charge to use them and that was a definite plus for me. The next big things I am working on are the photographer and videographer then I will feel much better. I will keep you updated as things go along. Happy planning!!
  12. Thanks! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't only me lol
  13. Has anyone been able to get 2015 rates? I am being told we can't get rates or book anything until November of this year. I want to send save the dates out to give everyone a chance to prepare accordingly.
  14. I'm not getting married until 2015 and all the comments about over charging is having me second guessing this resort. I have no problem with paying for actual fees and services but, I don't appreciate a venue being sneaky and trying to get over. Especially when we know some things are already over priced so to add more is just unprofessional and bad business. Having a destination wedding works for us and is still cheaper than a wedding here but, I don't want to deal with the frustration and aggravation that seems to be involved. Being stressfree is one of the reasons we chose to get married away. I have also read the good reviews where everything turned out fabulous so I am definitely torn on whether to stay with this resort or not. Decisions decisions! !!
