As for your question about when I booked, I booked Octavio Montes about 6 months before our wedding (wedding was in Nov and I booked him in May). I would suggest booking no less than 6 months before....the sooner the better. I contacted almost everyone on the list in April and for the most part, everyone except one photographer was available for our Nov date. Hope that gives you a better idea.

How did you let family know that you already did the deed ans they should just enjoy the destination ceremony?? Stressed!!! We also did the same thing that @MOrdonez mentioned. We had our civil ceremony in July and only told our immediate family and NO ONE ELSE! We didn't want to take away from our Nov wedding in Cancun. We actually still pretended to be engaged.....calling each other fiancés, not wearing our bands yet, I still had my bridal shower and bachelorette party, etc. We just felt like we personally wanted to "preserve" our moment for our Cancun wedding and if we told ppl about the civil marriage, it would downsize the "feeling" for us and everyone's experience. So no one ever found out and when Nov came along, and it still was magical. I honestly feel like I'm officially married now =). And after the wedding, I spilled the beans to some and told them we were already married since July. People jokingly were saying that they felt cheated and they came to Cancun for nothing and they would have cancelled their trip if they knew.....all with laughs tho as they were sipping on their umbrella drinks on the beach =) lol.

When we had our very first conversation on the phone we talked about a few things and she recommended to me 3 resorts, and 2 of 3 were 2 i was already consider but the 3rd was the place we actually chose! So she was already worth it just for introducing me to a place I thought would be out of my budget! And she always gets back to me the next day either by email or phone. She even called to let me know she was going to vacation and she might be responding spastically if I had any questions. I think it is just very hit or miss and you just have to hope you get a good one. Who is your planner???

  8. I just made my final payment for our wedding in Nov. It included the cost for my hair and make-up appointment. For those brides that got their hair done at the salon, did you do a trial prior to your wedding day? If so, did you have to pay for it?? How much was it?? Did you have to schedule an appointment before you got to the resort with your planner?

When you say it was cheaper for you as a bride, did you mean the room price or is there other info I'm missing. Thanks so much! I was talking about the actual price of the rooms. GCR did have the cheapest quotes for our guest and it was family friendly. The other resort and locations were a little bit more. But honestly, not by a whole lot. And I totally agree with kwink's comment about how you (all of us) will probably coming out of this wedding/trip spending the same amount if we had our wedding in the states....but with Mexico, our $$$ will stretch out and cover several days in paradise instead of a 5 hour event. So I'm all for that! And I also agree that it will be more about the experience rather than cost. As far as private events go, GCR can definitely cover a party of 100+. But I don't think they can do a free private event, unless you book a bunch of rooms, which you might with that many people going. I would definitely ask your planner about that. Also, the more expensive wedding packages, I think, come with a set price for you and maybe about 50 guests. After 50 guest, you would have to pay an additional fee per plate. I am not sure how GCR's wedding cost compare to other resort wedding cost. I can tell you that we are roughly paying $15/plate, which I thought was a bargain compared to $50-100/plate here in Los Angeles. Hopefully this can give you a better idea.

With such short notice, we are not sure how many people would show up, but probably around 70. I'm looking for a resort with a great ceremony space (not on the beach/sand itself, but overlooking the ocean), a gorgeous ballroom for a formal reception, and a family friendly property for my nieces/nephews and friends with kids. The Gran Caribe/Royal combo has come up as a finalist. What made you choose it? What are some pros and cons? How about costs? Thank you so much for your help and input. Well, to be honest, I loved the Chapel there. That's what made me look into the resort. But unfortunately, my fiancé isn't catholic so it was a no-go for utilizing the chapel for our big day. However, we compared the prices of GCR to other family resorts and GCR had the most competitive prices. So it was a no brainer to have our guests (and us) pay the least and still have all the great amenities. GCR had it all. Plus, we love how it has a big swim area for the kids. They will be happy =). GCR has the gazebo over looking the water where you can get married at. They also have a very big terrace over looking the water too where you can have your reception. I believe they have a ballroom too....but not 100% sure. Lots of luck on your search!
  12. Less than 6 weeks to go before we leave for our wedding!!!! I'm getting even more EXCITED & anxious! More anxious about the whole "getting there ok and not forgetting anything" and hoping my guest will get there ok too. And hoping that their won't be any issues at check-in (as I heard some couples and their guest had). Just wanted to share my excitement!! Any other brides that are getting married at GCR in Oct or Nov??? How are you ladies doing/feeling??? What do you girls have left to do???

He does have great prices and so far, the work I've seen from his site and Facebook look really great. Glad to hear you had a great expensive with him and loved your pictures. Definitely gives me a better "piece of mind" that I chose the right photographer for us. For some reason, I cannot view the pix that you posted
