Got the video back from the resort. I regret making that decision. Do NOT spend any amount of money on their video packages. I don't know why the guy had a huge camera when the video quality was crap. Our small hand held video was of much much better quality. If you can't afford other videographers, you're better off getting one of your guests and a tripod to hold your video cam than getting the resort's video package. BTW the resort video people are really nice. Just their job is crap

This is by far my favorite shot by Octavio Montes. I love how he was able to capture a passionate kiss between the two of us. We are a bubbly couple so this type of image is rare for us. Octavio also suggested the pose If this picture doesn't show, check out this link instead: https://www.facebook...&type=1 The photo quality has been compromised because I took this off a webpage and copy+paste it here. The original file is much much clearer.

I had 3 tiers and a different flavor for each tier= vanilla, coffee and hazelnut. My guests loved the cake. Do NOT get the Mango float au tequilla for dessert. Terrible. The beef medallion and chicken (I forgot) were ok but boring. Soup was clam chowder, that was good. The salad was alright.. nothing special. No, I don't know We moved to the Hyatt after the wedding, so it was just my husband and myself It was a very small place though. I would say 12-14 people would fit.

I don't think they let you go beyond 10 at the terrace. Most of my guests just took over the lobby bar afterwards. 10 was a good time to stop. Some of my guests were already pretty drunk and whoever didn't want to retire for the night just stayed in the lobby bar to socialize. BTW how did you get your reception to start at 7? Mine started at 6. Are you having a cocktails for 2 hours?

Florist in Cancun
meowybells replied to weddingchick's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
I got married just recently and I would like to add Flores Riviera Maya to this list. I wrote a review about them in the vendor section if you'd like to know more about my experience with them. And this is their website: http://www.floresrivieramaya.com/eng/ I remember how hard it was to find affordable flowers in Cancun that did not sacrifice quality and service. Hopefully this helps! Happy planning -

I just got back too! Everybody loved the wedding day. From the Catholic ceremony to the reception. I had 70 guests so I took my chances and didn't pay for the extra charge. I had told my wedding coordinator how much I really want the Tiffany chairs over the Folding chairs. About the lighting in the Gaviotas/ Sunset Terrace, if your wedding is at 4pm and reception is at 6pm, it will be perfect. You won't have to worry about lighting because the sun doesn't set until past 7 ( Maybe the sun sets later in the summer?) . I would suggest you have dinner first so you can see your food. I brought flameless candles and I didn't notice them very much during the reception. We hired DJ Doremixx and got the lightup dance floor. They bring some lights with them too. So between the sunset and the DJ. you should have enough sun in the summer.

Hello Brides, I just had my wedding at the GCR May 8,2014. I hired Octavio Montes as my photographer. I don't have the photos back yet (it's only been a week), but I would like to attest to his professionalism. He came earlier than expected to set up and discuss what we considered the most important to capture. He was very receptive to suggestions. I would say his style is a cooperation between the couple and his team. You can tell he was really into it and suggested poses to try, even lying down on the floor sometimes to capture great shots! He was a pleasure to work with,. and I can't wait to get our photos back! Look forward to my later posts. I'll have attachments for sure

Wow I did not know this, but I'm not overly surprised. If it weren't for the gorgeous beach and the chapel I'd be so disappointed I picked this resort because of their outrageous fees! I feel your pain. How is it costing them $20 more to feed an outside vendors?? We are paying $350 for the vendor fee. The vendors do not even get unlimited drinks or food perks. At the very least they could charge their dinner the same rate as every other guest. Even trying to get white tiffany chairs instead of folding chairs will cost something. White tiffany chairs are supposedly standard just like the folding chairs, but subject to availability. To guarantee your choice, you have to pay $10 per chair. Why should I pay for something that should come STANDARD??

I was also surprised to find out it was $80 for the 4 course meal for outside vendors. It's only $60 pax if your guest is a "Real guest". Otherwise they feel they can charge you ridiculous amounts.. As if they didn't milk enough money off us with the outside vendor fee. I was really annoyed too but there is no way around it. Final payment made!!! CAD $ - USD $ conversion almost made me choke. But I'm soooo happy May is just around the corner!

I have a question about that rooming list document we have to fill out and send to our WC 60(?) days before the wedding. What if you booked through Expedia? And lots of my guests booked online e through different websites. They don't really give you a hotel booking confirmation number. Heck I don't even know my own hotel booking confirmation number. I've looked through receipts and itineraries, and have only seen my Expedia reservation code. Anyone else not use a TA and have the same dilemma?

I was just curious.. Has anyone tried to use their aisle flowers for reception purposes? Like the guest book table? Or the cake table? The resort is just going to throw them out after anyway. I have my centrepieces all sorted out for guest tables, but wouldn't it make sense to get more use out of them before they get tossed out? I don't know where I read it but I'm under the impression that they don't allow you to take flowers out of the chapel after the ceremony. Thoughts?

Congratulations on setting the date! About the dress, it took about 6months for them to make mine, and another half a month to get it hemmed and fitted. Have you thought about what styles you like? It's so exciting to look and try them on, but it can get very confusing because they're all so pretty I have 4 bridesmaids but I have godparents. 12 of them. Each will have a buttonniere/corsage. Plus mum and dad and grandparents.l It adds up quickly! I have seen pictures of their bouquets, which are nice. But my wedding colours are white red and gold, so it was hard to find a bouquet off their site to match my colours.I took some pictures off pinterest for them to copy For the chapel I will have them decorate every other pew instead of every single pew, two big altar pieces, and rose petals on the aisle. Pretty standard. I'm hoping nobody will notice I scrimped on pew flowers lol! I picked arrangements that are kinda dangly and long to make up for it. Are you guys going to organize the clubbing after? Like tranport, tickets, etc.. Like I know for coco bongo you have to get there pretty early to get in. Did you scope out any other good clubs?

Hi! Sorry it took me so long to get back. Because of that $ vendor fee that can't be waived no matter how many flowers you get from the resort, I will just get all my flowers from my outside vendor. Initially I was going to have the chapel decorated by the resort. But if I'm paying the vendor fee anyway, I will just go with my vendor Floreira Riviera Maya. They charge way less than the resort. For example, if I got my entourage flowers from the resort I would be paying $1000 minumum. From Floreira, it is $600. Already that covers the vendor fee. I have heard the flowers from the resort aren't so great anyway. Total win if you get it from an outside vendor.

Hi! I thought I'd add mine, as I was very happy with my invites. I ordered mine from Kalidad Prints. They are based in the Philippines. They speak perfect english, we did all of our communicationover email. For 50 invites, I paid P5, 000 which is about $120 CAD. Shipping was another $100, but it was through FedEx and took about 3 working days. The paper quality is exceptional and I got to customize it so many ways. I even got our text embossed on the boarding pass cover. Btw the amount I paid included boading pass cover, rsvp card, another 2 cards to put info on, monogram sticker( to seal envelops with), envelopes, ribbons and all the customizations you might want to do. I paid through paypal, so it was easy. Hope your invites turn out great! www.kalidadprintsandfavors.com
