Dreams Cancun or Dreams Cabo? Help

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I thought I had made up my mind and I wanted Dreams Cancun, but now I'm starting to waiver. I've been running across really beautiful pictures and it turns out they are all at Dreams Cabo...Help.

Someone make up my mind for me!!!

Here's what I'm looking for...

I have about 50 guests coming, so I'm looking for a place that is not too much of a challenge to get to(distance from the airport, etc)...the room rate is also a big factor for most of my guests...I really wanted a place that was fun, with lots of activities going on during the day, not too uptight with dress code, etc, and pretty good nightlife...most of my guests are mid 20's and broke so we'd like to be able to stay at the resort and take advantage of the "all-inclusive" option...as far as the wedding, I love the gazebo at both locations and really want a reception outside possibly around the pool.

So any thoughts?

I don't know anything about Cancun, but Dreams Cabo isn't super nightlife-y. You can take a cab to downtown Cabo, but the resort itself it away from all the clubs. It's stunningly beautiful though!! :)

Maybe the RIU Cabo is a better option for the nightlife part?

Luckily there are a ton of Dreams Cabo brides here who can help you!

I'm getting married at dreams cancun, but have never been to either property. It sounds like most of the dreams properties are pretty quiet themselves, being that they're both family resorts. I think they both have a lot of activities and things to do at night, I'm just not sure how crazy they get. I think downtown cancun is relatively close by, if that matters. I know you mentioned taking advantage of the all inclusive aspect of it, so that may not really matter to you.

Both properties also have beautiful gazebos.

I know we were interested first in cabo but made part of our decision based on location for us coming from the east coast. It was going to be less expensive for us to fly to cancun rather than cabo.

Pricewise, I'm not sure how the resorts compare, but that was also a factor for us, we didn't want our guests to pay a ridiculous amount of money because we knew they wouldn't come.

I think your best bet would be to contact a TA and find out about pricing for both resorts and also for flights because I know you mentinoned making it affordable for your guests. That would probably be your best starting point.

Both resorts are beautiful and have great staff, so I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I've never been to either but I think that neither of them has a crazy night life. I believe that Dreams Cancun is much closer to the clubs and bars than Dreams Cabo is. If you really want a party place that is all-inclusive I would look at the RIU resorts or ME Melia. They have more nightlife activity going on and they are all-inclusive as well.

Dreams Cabo doesn't have much of a nightlife, but that was ok for the group I had. We debated the Riu palace, which has a great nightlife, and access to downtown, but I just wanted a more relaxed atmosphere for my wedding.

I don't know about Cancun, but I think that Dreams properties are just a little more relaxing and laid back in general- Riu and Melia have more nightlife, like Glenda stated. In Cancun, it's pretty easy to get around using public transportation. The bus is a little scary (across a really busy blind highway drive) in Cabo.

Dreams Cancun is less expensive (room rates), and I think it's easier to get a date there than in Cabo. My fiance and I wanted to have the wedding in Cabo, but there were no dates available when we wanted to get married, but we also wanted a short engagement so you could be fine with enough planning time.

There is a lot of nightlife in Cancun, and the resort is super close to the airport.

Hi!

I'm a Dreams Cancun bride, and stayed there last October. The resort itself was very quiet at night (granted we were there during the off-season), but you can literally walk 5 minutes out the front door and be in the middle of all the action (bar and clubs). No taxi required. During the day, there are quite a few activities right at the resort...water volleyball, beach volleyball, swimming with the dolphins, kayaks, etc. And the gazebo location is to die for!

Thanks everybody...That really helps!!! Dreams Cabo is out purely because it would cost more to fly there and if the room rates are higher, then there you go. And I like the fact that someone mentioned it's a 5 minute walk to downtown Canun from Dreams. We're going to have my bachelorette party there so that would be alot of fun.

See, the problem is that I've never been there. I went to Secrets in the RM this summer and it was really nice, but really boring!!! The whole resort went to be at 10:00. But, it was a big honeymoon/couples resort so maybe that had something to do with it. I just don't want my friends to fly all the way down there and then have nothing to do in the evenings.

The only reason I'm stuck on Dreams is because my parents went there this past summer and came back saying "This is where the wedding has to be!" I'm a little reluctant to take advice about how fun a place is by two middle aged parents :-)

Sorry I'm rambling...so I guess I need to do a little more research into RIU and ME

Just one more question...Sarah (or anyone) you said you went to Dreams last October. How was the weather? I was shooting for the end of October for my wedding and everyone keeps telling me it's still the rainy season, so now I'm scared.

Thanks again everybody

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
