Canadian Brides!!!!!!!!!

Were getting married at the Mayan Rivieria at the Gran Bahia Akumal in May 2012. The resort does not allow outside photographers unless they are staying at the resort. I would love to have the ceremony, TTD, and maybe an excursion photographed. Our budget is around $4000-$5000 :).

If we plan a trip over the next little while I will definitely let you know as I would be happy to pick up some flowers and mail them to you!  We are still undecided and I dont get to Toronto that often anymore but we do need to act soon since we get married one month after you!!!

Another option is a lady in hamilton that we contacted (she ships) "enchanting memories"  I emailed her and she called me and we were on the phone for an hour and half chatting.  She was so knowledgeable about destination weddings etc it was awesome, she is also so so kind!  We just wanted 3 callas in four bouquets and the price just wasnt in our budget right then but she does great work!  I would email and see what she can do!

Who in Punta Cana is doing your flowers?  I would be interested to here what they are charging for their bouquets since we are trying to decide between real and real touch right now as well.

Where are you getting married?  that would help us to give you suggestions.... do you want a canadian photographer? someone at your location? will you be paying for their trip etc.  what is your budget?  I am sorry to say that most of the people we talked to about flying down with us we would have had to pay for their trip (approx $1500-$2000) and then their fees on top.  The only "bonus" would be that they photograph all week long which is really nice.

Photography is not cheap...... is it ever not cheap but I think you can find something to suit your budget based on your expectations!

Hey Ladies,

Has anyone looked into, or thought about how to do a streaming video of the wedding ceremony for those who couldn't make it?? My FI and I  really want to do this if we can, as our Grandparents are not able to make it to the wedding.. and we would LOVE to have a streaming video for them to watch.. so they can be a part of it from far away...

The issue is that we aren't sure if it is even possible?  Does anyone know if and how we could do this??

any advise or thoughts on this would be really helpful!!! :)

Jen,

Ebay is the best deal I have found for organza chair sashes.  I have yet to order mine but I posted awhile back about them.  You can just do a search.... I saw 100 for around $55-$59 so that should give you an idea of price and shipping to canada was FREE!!!!

PM me is you cant find a listing!!!!

Hey Ladies!! I found this really cool DIY project from a fellow knottie and thought I share it with you!! I think I might do this for the chairs along the aisle. I've also found a girl on Etsy that made pomander balls out of tissue paper, which may be better for our travels as the pomander balls arrives flat to you and then you would need to "fluff" it up. Here's the website!

We would really like to do this as well. Not sure if its possible, I was thinking Skype from and iPad but not sure if the wireless signal would reach our ceremony location.

Hi Cynlee,

I am in the process of making some, they are cheap enough to make on your own...time consuming. Here are some pointers though.

I made red ones out of fabric, look nice like the ones in your like but look a bit messy if the fabric you use frays easily. So now I am making some with different fabric, broadcloth but I am also using red tulle on top to make it look fancier and I am using pinking shears...finishes the edges. I made a turquoise one out of tissue paper using pinking shears and it looked great but....with travelling and touching it, it got crumpled up quite easily.

I will post a pic in the next few days as I am making them today. I am hoping to use them on chairs, also in rectangular vases on the tables as real flowers are super expensive and not that ncie at my resort.

Our resort provides this service for 50$. At first we really wanted it. But then we figured that our grandparents might have issues with internet traffic or getting on. So we are just going to go ahead with the videographer and will send/show it to them later. That way they wont have to worry missing it or not being able to connect.

Our resort does not let outside vendors. And I was not too happy with their photographers work. So we are bringing our photographer. I kept our cost down, by splittling the cost with other couple who will be getting married at the same resort 2 days after us. :D

Any recommendation would be appreciated? Oh, I should mention that the resort photographer had mix reviews and are pretty pricy as well which is why we want to bring in our own photographers.

Hey ladies,

Whoever said Destination Weddings are stress free clearly hasn't planned one or been a Destination Wedding bride! Last minute (and often uninvited) guests are a fairly regular occurrence in this office so we've come up with all sorts of creative solutions for that problem!!!

I actually got these coasters for my entire team at Blue Petal Weddings! Sometimes we need reminding as well, it's a much more emotional job then booking corporate travel or vacations, that's for sure!

Happy planning!

My friend Helga is a photographer in Edmonton.  She would have been the photographer for our wedding, unfortunately our photography budget is more like $2000, so we're probably just going with the resort photographer.  Depending on how much it costs to bring 2 people to your resort for your wedding week, I think she could work with your $4000-5000 budget.  Tell her that I (Liane) referred her.  She'll likely be able to negotiate the price with you.

Her website is www.helgaphotography.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
