Chocolate Brides: To Jump the Broom or Not???

Recommended Posts

Hmm good question lol. I think it is about 3/3.5 feet and I was planning to put it in a plastic bag and put it in my dress bag. If not it will definitely fit in my big luggage that I was going to pack for the honeymoon. aefc253f-b53f-64e2.jpg

We jumped the broom at our wedding and I'm so glad we did. A family friend who could not make the wedding made our broom as a gift. It was absolutely beautiful. In our family, an elder sweeps all of the negative energy away prior to the couple jumping the broom.  Our pictures turned out so well, we choose our broom jumping pic to be the cover of our album.

We jumped the broom and it was great! I ended up putting it in my dress bag and carried it on the plane with me. It just needed some fluffing when we arrived and it turned out great. Glad we were able to incorporate this tradition in our wedding.

I jumped the broom 25 days ago!! I drove myself crazy searching for an affordable broom. I ended up purchasing a broom on Amazon for less than $20. The same broom is at JoAnn's if you have one near by. To personalize the broom I had my guest write their wedding wishes on strips of ribbon that I then tied to the handle of the broom. It was a hit!

Jumping the broom is one of the oldest traditions, my grandparents and parents did it. My fiance and I are doing it as well. Its kinda hard to bring a broom though. Someone mentioned Pier 1...going to see if they carry something like that still.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
