Going Dress Shopping for the first time

Recommended Posts

today...Alone! I just want to revel in the fact that Im actually shopping for my wedding dress. I want to wrap myself in that feeling and have it for myself. Does that make sense? Did anyone else go alone the first time?

Have a blast! I went shopping the 1st time out by myself as well. In fact, I usually go by myself...altho a few weeks ago, I did go shopping with a friend.

Remember to keep an open mind and try on everything. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but ended up liking things I would not have dreamed of wearing.

Have fun! smile29.gif

I normally like going by myself shopping unless I am not buying for myself.

However I would like to go with someone else for their opinion. However I am the type that if I am out once weekend and pass by a bridal shop and have time...I will just go in.

I haven't officially looked yet but I did go in davids bridal one day already by myself because I was in the neighborhood.

My mother was in town to visit so I made sure to do my first dress shopping when she was here so that she could be a part of it. A couple of friends went too. I loved having them there and seeing their impressions when I walked out of the fitting room. It was definitely a weird but great feeling. It makes it all seem so much more real.

I also agree that you should definitely try on all types of dresses. You might be pleasantly surprised. I told the lady at the shop that I didn't want lace, beads, ruffles or bows. The dress I liked the best had some of the elements to it. You just never know.

My only advice would be to NOT try on anything out of your price range. I am totally in love with a dress that is about 3x what I wanted to spend. And everyday that goes by, I am more convinced that I am going to buy it. I love it, but wish I never saw it, cuz I also found a perfectly lovely dress in my price range! Good luck!!!!

I think I would go by myself the first time also (even though I would be so nervous). This way I could get a feel for what I like and then go later with someone special and get their opinion. I would hate to go the first time and have different opinions interfering...that can get stressful.

Good luck with the dress shopping and def take pics if they let you so that you can post here.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
