With the Swine Flu epidemic I am looking at getting Wedding Insurance. I wouldn't want to lose all my deposits and all the other $ I put in.

Anyone know of a Canadian Company that offers destination wedding insurance. I have only seen them cover Weddings in Canada.

I don't know if they will accept the certificate for the resort, but my husband's insurance (blue cross blue shield) said they would cover everything for me dating back to my wedding date.

We were procrastinating on adding me to his insurance, and then I found myself in the hospital needing to have my appendix removed. He called while I was in the hospital and that's when they said they would cover everything. They sent us a form to fill out and I had to send them our original marriage license, which they sent back a week or two later.

It took about 2 months to get my original marriage certificates in the mail.

We also got wedding insurance because you never know what will happen. We used travelers which is our carrier for car and renters. Here is the link, my policy covers, deposits, lost rings, stolen gifts, no shows, medical emergency cancelations, travel interuptions, and sever weather. I think

We purchased one that will cover all our travel and wedding costs. You specify the amount you have into the trip and the insurance costs are based on that.

With everything that has happened over the last few months, this has made us feel better. It was right at $200 each for the insurance. We got $4000 worth of coverage each.

It is through Global Benefit Solutions. If you want to talk to someone about it, I can pass your email address on to my friend that sold it to us. Just PM me with your information. For more information and to see the brochure, check out the following link. The information, in PDF form, is at the bottom. We purchased the Patriot Elite T.R.I.P. You can sign up through this page too.

Here is the actual brochure for the one we purchased.

EmenGeeRoxx, did you ever find out about Wedding Insurance in Canada? I came across this as something to ask about when planning the DW but don't know anything about it in Canada. Let me know if you have any info on it.

Thanks!

No luck! I tried many companies in the US and they directed me to their Canadian sister companies and none will do it. They do have wedding insurance but for domestic weddings. None for destination.

One of the travel agents recommended this as a substitute

Manulife is excellent and does cover for cancellation and interruption for a multitude of reasons. There is no deductible and honeymooners get upgrade for free to the Concierge Deluxe Plan for the cost of the Recommended Plan.

Thanks. I've been asking around and no one seems to even know what I'm talking about! They keep referring me to regular trip cancellation and medical insurance. I guess we'll have to have faith and hope that everything will be ok.

Thanks again and good luck with everything!

We went with WedSafe and we were able to customize it for the amount of money we have paid. For example, FI and I paid for 12 people total to come to the wedding and that was about $15K and we covered vendor services separately against receipts. We choose a policy specifically for Caribbean weddings in August!

In all we are covered for up to $35k and we paid just under $300.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
