I just checked the details of my insurance. It's wedding ins and not travel ins. It covers the cost of the venue, dress, jewlery, deposits made, etc. We obtained it from our regular ins. carrier.

Just to clarify my thread was talking about Wedding Insurance, NOT travel insurance. The carriers to date that I have conversed with for policies are Travel Insurance and Fireman's Fund Insurance expanded its existing policy for weddings and other special events. WedSafe, a unit of Aon, also offers a wedding insurance policy.

Mine wedding ins. is through Travelers and it cost $500.00 for the policy. Hope this helps!

Ok, I did a search for travel medical insurance and read lots of posts (thanks ladies!) Several relatives of mine are retired or semi-retired and are cardiac patients. They will get travel medical insurance, so no problem there. I know they'd get the all clear to travel, but I'm a bit worried about once we've arrived.

I would like our families to be able to go to a facility like Amerimed Hospital and get immediate medical attention without worrying about the cost. Is that even possible?

Can anyone recommend a specific insurance provider?

I have a lot of experience with this as I am an independent health insurance agent and I sell all the carriers in California. Any of the big name carriers are good. I personally sell all my clients HTH Worldwide. I was in Italy last summer and got very sick - my HTH worked wonders - it paid for everything. Also keep in mind if you are in US and have medical here - they will pay for emergency situations abroad (EDIT: just realized you were in Canada - will your universal healthcare cover you in emergency situations abroad?). Now emergency situations are not breaking an arm (even though I would consider this to be so!)....anyway good luck!

If you have any questions - PM me - I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Yes, I think that some credit cards (maybe most?) have some type of travel insurance (i.e. lost luggage, rental car insurance, etc.) Not sure of the exact details but I would contact your credit card company and ask or go on the website. Why pay for something if it's already given as a perk for your business? Don't know about health though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
