Michael is originally from Victoria, and after I graduated I moved out to Vancouver. I love it here, but I'm also excited to move back to Toronto where my family lives.

my first year of university I lived right off of the canal and I used to skate to and from school...it was my favorite especially coming home after a night at the campus pub and stopping to get "beaver tails" (flat doughnut..yumm)

OMG I remember beaver tails on the canal. We lived in Ottawa for a few years growing up. I can't remember many things about ottawa except the science museum and the crooked kitchen and beaver tails on the canal.

  • 3 weeks later...

yea the canal goes through Ottawa, and you can skate from downtown to the university ..its really fun. All along the way you can have hot chocolate, apple cider, beaver tails etc... (to put back all the calories you burned skating haha)

I grew up in Ottawa, and the FI and I love living here. We feel that it's the perfect place to raise a family (especially since most of our fam is here). We love the Canal and all the nature trails. We moved in together after university (U of O!!) and decided to move to Sandy Hill which is definetly fun, but when we decided to buy, we moved to the West End. Thats so fun that you lived in Ottawa..we are definetly a minority on this forum! Good luck planning!

lol well luckly they don't have anyone checking intoxication levels before getting on the canal. It's probably not the safest thing but its loads of fun! cheesy.gif haha!

Ottawa was my favorite, I wish I could go back in time to my Carleton days :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
