Can lace dresses be shortened?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your help ladies. I think as much as I love this dress I'm going to wait and try on more stuff.

Anyone know of any dresses that look similar (strapless lace over satin with the antique buttons down the back)? LOL

I actually got mine at David's Bridal and they have a couple of new antique looking dresses, I think mine had a very antique feel to it, I should be getting my pro pics soon, I can share when I get them

Actually yes...I was going to suggest this. So much less hassle.

Try looking at Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo.

Or this one from her destination line.

Maggie has a ton of beautiful lace overlay dresses! Look through her collection.

I saw some wonderful dresses very similar to yours from these designers. One in particular was from Casablanca that looked very similiar. At least in my memory!

I think this was it. Maybe....

I'm positive you can have it done by a professional. My dress was Alencon lace over a lace slip and the seamstress hemmed it to the right length. Normally there's actually a peice of the lace that comes unattached - they cut the dress to the right length and reattach the bottom scalloped edge. I would just make sure that it's there. I can't see why it wouldn't be.

Go for it!

Monique Lhuillier does dresses in Alencon (a particular kind of french lace), as does Alvina Valenta and possibly Vera Wang. Beware that Alencon lace is very expensive, about $500/yard so keep that in mind when you check out these dresses. You may not want to try them on if they're not in your budget (most are 3K - 10K i think)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
