Jamaica has all that minus the volcanoes. I love Ocho Rios (where we're going) because it has a beautiful beach AND gorgeous mountains & waterfalls! And snorkeling is right off of the beach where we're staying ~ I can't wait!!!

It really is the perfect place for Reggie & I - he LOVES the beach and I prefer hiking, mountains and waterfalls!

well, since you are on the west coast why not take advantage of it and do something like hawaii or tahiti...

one of my best friends and DH's brother honeymooned in belize and loved being on the resort but said it can get dangerous off the resort...my BIL actually was chased through town one night and he is a pretty mellow, levelheaded, adventurous guy...like he drove a vw bus from oregon down through mexico on a whim...

costa rica is very charming...they have small boutique hotels instead of the mega resorts...if you are gonna do caribbean what about st. lucia?

Some options... there is a cruise that leaves from Ft. Lauderdale and goes to belize, cozumel and key west...

Or youcould do the key west, grand cayman (love this place), ocho rios

Or, San Juan, St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St Kitts...

Oh my goodness the list is endless!

hey Heidi, i know you previously mentioned that some of your family was worried about safety. is it safe to go off and do all the activities?

i haven't researched jamaica all that much, but i know when we were looking at the DR there was a big misconception that it was really unsafe. but really it was more about being a smart traveller

as long as you do excursions through companies with a good reputation! I mean, I'm not planning on hiring the cheapest local I can find to take us on a hiking path to the mountains! haha! there are reviews on different excursions on Trip Advisor; that's what we're largely counting on to make our decisions. There are too many things we want to do there ~ zip line canopy tour though the mountains; swim with dolphins; horseback ride on the beach; snorkeling; Dunns River Falls; the list goes on!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
