I haven't really researched that aspect... personally I find hotel photography to not be the greatest, but I haven't looked into the Melia. When I booked, they did send me an email and I thought their prices were pretty steep. I'm bringing my own photographer and got a good deal from him....

 

Sorry I can't help with that!!

 

Our trips will probably overlap! :) Can't wait!!

Danid...I'm getting married there April 17!!

 

I have been to the resort before and loved it!  Several of friends have gotten married there and loved it too.  That is one the reasons why and picked Melia.  The scenery is amazing and the food was really good too.  The resort is very large and lots of restaurants to chose from.  The beach was great.  Can't say enough good things about it.

 

For the photography, one of our friends is a photographer, so he is coming down with us.

I have done a little research for the photographer on site and I was pleased with the photos!  I was considering looking for an off site photographer, until I realized that there was an addition $1000 US to bring one onsite....they call it a copyright fee.  That is just crazy! 

 

Our trips will more then likely overlap...we'll have to have a look out for each others groups!

$1000 is crazy!!  Because he is staying the whole week with and is going to be a guest, luckily we won't have to pay that fee.  Thank heavens!!

 

We're there from the 15th to the 22nd.  So we will definetly see you there!!

 

How is the rest of your planning going??

I'm arriving on the 21st! If I see you, you'll be able to give me up to date tips :D

 

I am having a really hard time making an important decision right now - I have been dealing with three different travel agents to get a good deal... now all three have matched each other at $1362/person. So now I don't know who to go with!!

 

One is SellOffVacations, one is Flight Centre and one has her own small company. They've all been helpful and are offering the same deal.

 

If I provide 10 deposits right away, Flight Center can hold 20 seats at the same rate, while SellOff and the other girl can hold 40, and that's much better for me to get my invitations out. So I think that drops Flight Center.

 

The girl with her own company has been really helpful but I worry about booking with a small company vs SellOff ... I feel like if anything goes wrong, there's more accountability with SellOff... what do you guys think???

I thought the same regarding the $1000 US fee for the photographer.  The planning is going good, not a whole lot to do when your doing a destination wedding which is great!   I've been going through photos that the resort photographer have posted on facebook looking a flower arrangement to see if I can see anything that interests me.......and to be honest the flowers are fantastic!  I don't think that there is anything that you can't get.  I've sent a message to the onsite photographer as well looking for information regarding video packages and haven't heard anything.  Are you doing a video?  If so, do you have any information from the resort regarding that?  Also, I'm still waiting for my travel agent to get name of a wedding planner at the resort so I can start that process and speak with someone.  Have you gotten that far yet?

Yes, that part of a destination wedding is great!!  No, we aren't doing a video.  At least I don't think so...We haven't really talked about that yet so that could change.  So I don't have any information on that.  The flowers are amazing!  I do have a WC, Heinicy (I think that is how you spell it).  We have exchanged a couple of emails but she is slow to respond.  I just have to remember that they save very email you send so they know what you want.  I forwarded my WC a picture of what I want, mostly tropical flowers in pinks and oranges. 

 

Have you sent your deposit yet?  They usually assign a WC after that.

 

Did you pick a package yet?  We are going with the Tropical package.  Wedding in garden gazebo and reception at the Italian restaurant.

 

One of more question..lol!!  Did you pick a dress yet?

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
