Thanks ladies!  July is way too early, so I'm definitely pushing it back!  I like the idea of it being a few months ahead of the wedding date, so that I have time to pre-plan for decorations, etc.

I got in touch with the DJ, photographer and videographer about 5 months before our wedding. The DJ requested a list of "must play", "do not play" & the mother/son & bride/groom dance songs from us which we emailed to them before we arrived to the resort. It was nice to communicate with all the different people who would work with us on our day to make sure we are happy.

Happy planning everyone :)

Hi Kaycee - Which DJ did you guys use for your wedding and would you recommend to other brides?

We just got back from our 2 week wedding/honeymoon fiesta and Now Jade was great.  If you have any questions just let me know.  I am hoping to get a review done this afternoon.

For those who had questions about the onsite photographer:

We used a local photographer for the wedding whose work was amazing but still fairly inexpensive (Sascha Gluck) and I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. I HIGHLY suggest an outside photographer for the actual wedding.  The charge was supposed to be $65 per person (photographer and his assistant) to come on site that day but Pilar never put it on our bill. Since we had gotten a wedding package with photography we decided to use AdventurePhoto (the resort's onsite photographer) for a Trash The Dress session.  I went to look at their work and was not impressed with the wedding photos at all.  Very typical, posed photography.  If you are into the more journalistic approach, I suggest you look for an outside photographer.  However, they did an AMAZING job on the TTD session.  We requested to go to Maroma to shoot at an abandoned house and the pictures were phenomenal.  I wish I had some to share right now!  They drove us out there (about 25 min away, no extra charge) and spent an hour shooting at the house, around the land and then on the beach.  If you google "abandoned house Secrets Maroma" you can probably find some pictures to get an idea.  When we were picking out the photos they took for our book everyone around said it was the coolest location they had seen.  If you are interested, speak to Anthony at AdventurePhotos and he can set it up for you.

:)

I'll have to keep this in mind, since we don't  really like the resort photography but have it included in the package.

Thanks for posting your review - it is always nice to feel reassured you have made a good choice for wedding venue, especially when I haven't seen it first hand!  I love you dress and all the cute little touches you added to your wedding!  Congrats to you and the new hubby!!

    • Hey fellow wedding planners. When me and my wife planned our wedding I started making playlists both for the reception and for the dance floor.  I wanted it to be more towards indie and alternative music and since I started sharing the playlists on Facebook and other social media I got so much appreciation I wanted to make them available to others planning their wedding. For the reception Will you marry me? Let's play this at our wedding - INDIE / FOLK / ALTERNATIVE For the dance floor I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor - Indie Party Anthems I also have a few other playlists that might be of interest for playing at a wedding It's all about JAZZ Fabulous Fingerpicking Folk (Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkle, Bright Eyes, Iron & Wine, Beatles etc) 88 Keys Of Magic - Contemporary Piano - Jazz / Neo Classical and More Fingers, Wood, Nylon and Steel - Contemporary Acoustic Guitar Instrumental Chill Out Gems Hope it can be of help or maybe just inspiration for your own wedding playlist! Let me know what you think!   Flag  Quote  Agree  Like

    • Since we each live on opposite sides of the country, we are planning a VERY casual AHR in each town, a pizza party thing, the impportant people from each ide will be at the DW,I have a reputation for being independant and unpredictable so folks are wondering about this wedding, I'm just saying I'm not having it the colors i really want(fuschia and orange)pizza and beer sounds good to me
    • Which party rentals you have hired for your wedding, i am also looking for them please share some suggestions ?
