Hello ladies!

We are getting married at Riu Ocho Rios April 2011. We have requested April 4th but are yet to hear back! Fingers crossed! You are all freaking me out talking about STDs and Invites and getting your dresses!!!!!! I have done pretty much nothing! Just in the process of booking our evening reception for when we get back from Jamaica. We have had a few quotes for a photographer but without a set date I can't book anything. TA said it takes around 6weeks for the confirmation to come through!!! STRESS STRESS STRESS!

Wow 6 weeks for a confirmation! I would be going crazy! I wouldnt stress too much it will all come together, and it comes together fast! The only thing i have done is book the place, and photographer and sent out the save the dates and I pretty much did all that about a month ago so I would say your fine! I havent even started looking at dresses yet! Dont stress it will work out, once you have the place booked it all falls into place pretty quickly.  But I would recommend start working your save the dates, I started working on mine before I had a place booked, I just had her put in a temp date (the date I wanted) and once I knew the date for sure I had her send to the printers, but I made sure everything was already ready to go for her to print except for the date.

Hi Frizzy!

Congrats and welcome!!!

Don't stress!!!!!!! the whole idea of a DW is to not stress!!! (at least that's how my FI and I are looking at it)  You still have plenty of time!  My date is April 9 at the Riu Negril and I'm not even going to start dress shopping until oct/nov!  As for STD and invites, I only sent out the STD a couple of weeks ago because we had landed a great group quote that is only valid for a month! So we wanted to give everyone the option to take advantage! No need to freak out! :)  I'm puzzled as to what your TA is telling you about 6 weeks for confirmation - confrimation for what?????  I reserved my wedding date and time on the Riu weddings website and recieved an email from them about 3 days later saying that the date/time will be held for 90 days.  At least for Riu Negril, you can't confirm your wedding until you actually book your stay.  We officially booked our stay 2 weeks ago, recieved our booking confirmation # several days after that -- I then went to confirm the wedding via the Riu wedding website and it was confirmed right away! I have since contacted the wedding coordinator to ensure we have the steakhouse reserved for our reception and all is good! I don't see why it would take so long for Riu Ocho Rios, so maybe investigate that if you're worried???

Again, don't stress! just go with the flow!

Thanks so much for your reassurance ladies! It makes me feel better to know that other people are also not totally planned and booked! My TA had me fill in some forms to request the date we wanted and then faxed them to the wedding department. She said it takes 6 weeks for the confirmation to come through! I really didn't get it either! I have been on the ROR website and lie you said,  you can reserve the dates on there and the time so why can't i just do that? We have more than enough rooms booked for the free wedding package (31 people coming). Maybe i'll give my TA a call in the morning and ask her to explain!

I don't need to do STD for our DW as we personally invited everyone we wanted and they are all booked up at ROR. We did a massive group booking. I do however need to do STD for our reception party when we get back.....

I will probably be an April 2011 bride (or May). We are still trying to decide on a resort but we know it will be in Mexico, Riviera Maya or Playa del Carmen. I started on our website, but can't send out STD's until I know the date and resort :S Can't wait to hear how many people are coming (or not coming...).

I would totally just book online - especially if you've already booked your stay too. It's so easy! :) good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
