Hat- are you going to the same person? I'd try another nail tech.

Barbiegirl- I didn't have fake nails added. I went in, she took off the polish I had on, buffed them lightly with that block thing (just like they do with a manicure) then started painting on the gel. NO Fake tip, just my nails.

I do recommend letting them remove the gel though, I tried soaking mine in acetone and removing myself and I ended up peeling off the top layer of my nails. I won't do that again!

Yes. I went to three different places. The first place was horrible, and each new place got a little bit better than the last but at least one nail chipped or feel off after a few days.

HAT0112- I see you're in Philly.  Go to Christie's on Main Street in Manayunk.

I think AXXIUM is great!! BUT.....there is a big BUT...do not do this regularly.  I think it's awesome for a DW since it doesn't chip at all and lasts extra long, BUT after doing it for a couple of months, my nails really thinned out and began to hurt and get black and blues.  So, I will do it for my DW and that's it.

I am sad to say I didn't have a good experience with this at all.  I got a french manicure done the day before I left for my wedding.  So I got it on the Friday and my wedding was on the Thursday (6 days later).  By my wedding day, some of my nails had gotten grey around the white edges making my fingernails look dirty.  I could not clean them off so my nails looked dingy.  From far away it was fine, tey still look good but up close you could see that they looked dirty.  Also by my honeymoon so about 8-10 days after I got it done, some of my nails started to bubble at the edges, this really drove me nuts because things would got caught under the edge, it bothered me so much that I wanted so badly to get it off.  But of course you can't just take it off and I was in the Bahamas with no idea where to get it removed.  Now I am back but the salon isn't open today.  I want this off so badly.  It has been just over 2 weeks and my nails look horrible.  I will never do this again.  At least with regular nail polish I could have just removed it, with the Axxium I am stuck until I can get into the salon.

I guess I should mention that I also did axxium on my toes.  I did a colour - light pink on my toes.  I haven't had any problems with my toes but the experience with my hands has made me want to get it all off and never try it again.

My mom uses this stuff regularly and it has done a number on her nails. It does last quite a bit longer, but she's had some major problems when she broke a nail or wacked her finger on something.

Cin that sucks! I totally have fears of that on my wedding day and I want to get them done right before I leave for MX or even at the spa there. I bite my nails sooooo bad so I need fake ones but will be sure to bring fake nail remover down with me!

I'm not sure if this has been brought up in this thread, i may have missed it... a lot of nail salons use a type of topcoat that always seems to get ruined by sunscreen! even acrylic nails i've done have been ruined on day 1 of a vacation because of sunscreen. i think there's a certain kind of topcoat that won't be ruined, but i cannot remember.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
