My flowers (this was the thank you card we made for guests after the wedding; my boquet and husband's boutonniere came from the florist that Mayte works with; I got exactly what I requested...and orchids are super difficult to get the D.R.!)

As you can see Mayte is a real pro. She actually told me last week she's averaging two weddings a day! She's that busy and she still gets every detail right...an absolute pleasure to work with :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

hey Cinnagirl!  hm, ok I'm right at the 3 week mark then if you don't count the week that passed that she couldn't open the document ;-)  I'll ping her again soon.  I'd love to see the damage lol

how did yours come out?

My quote was just over $7000. That's for ceremony and reception for 50 people. The only thing not included is dinner since we haven't decided if we want to do a set meal plan or just let people choose their own entres. The amount for open bar doesn't seem right either because the quote only has open bar for 2 hours when we'll need it for 5. So we have some stuff missing from the quote, but we also have some additional stuff on there like babysitting and the firedancers.

Hang tight but don't be afraid to email her again to let her know you still haven't received it.  Mine took over a month, first same problem, she couldn't open my attachment so that took a little longer, then she said she had sent it and sent me the bank transfer info but I never received the quote.  But another email or so later she sent it...

haha.  Thanks ladies!  That makes me feel better but I'll give her until Thursday or Friday and reach out again.  This week is crazy.

cinnagirl, for 50 thats not so bad!  thanks for sharing.  I actually have 30 -35 and decided to have guests just choose off the menu rather than the set for the simple reason that I think they would appreciate the choice after having the hotel buffet for a few days ;-)

I'll be honest, I'm not sure I fully understand the bar choices Jellyfish offers though.  Open bar I totally get but I've also read here about a cocktail hour with 2 signature drinks and wine/beer during dinner options that aren't listed in the packages.  Anyone know about those?

My quote has me being charged different prices for drinks during different times. So cocktail hour drinks are $6 per person, dinner drinks are $10 per person and national open bar drinks are $12 per person.

I really like the idea of having people pick off the menu too. I think my fiance wants a menu for the pure fact that we'll know how much we're spending up front. I think I've read a few times that it generally work out cheaper to just pick off the menu.

You can pretty much request whatever setup for food and/or drink options (and anything else) you want and she will just quote you a price for it.  I requested Corona, red and white wine, a signature cocktail and soft drinks for cocktail hour, then the same for dinner. Originally we were going to do the middle of the road open bar for 3 hours for reception, but we have decided to do al la carte open bar for reception instead of one of the bar options just because between cocktail hour and dinner and how well we know our 30 or so guests, I don't think most of them will drink $15 per hour worth of alcohol.  Some will, a few might go over that, but some of our guests don't drink at all! Hopefully we can save a couple of bucks there.

I finally received pretty much all our RSVPs and have a very accurate count of people attending ;) I just sent Mayte a request for an updated quote...

I also asked her for pricing differences in doing a la carte versus a packaged menu.

Does anyone know if the photographers and videographers count toward the open bar cost?  I know I am providing them a meal, but i'm not expecting them to drink.

We are having 44 adults and about 10 kids.

Hopefully the number won't change much between now and the end of June ;)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
