Hi Everyone! I'm brand new here! (well not really, I've been stalking this site for the past 4 or 5 months).  I thought I was crazy to start planning my wedding for January 2015...but turns out I'm not, I contacted Mayte regarding my wedding I want to reserve the date for January 8, 2015 and she informed me to put a deposit as soon as I want that date reserved because January 2015 is already 75% reserved....wow she's in high demand!

Anyhow, I figured it's time for me to join in the conversation, I am waiting to hear back from her regarding deposit/bank information and I will definitely be placing a deposit to reserve my date.  I'm so excited, and it's so far away!  Thank you everyone for your help so far :D

Am I the only person planning a 2015 wedding around here? Please tell me I'm not as crazy as my fiance was thinking I was!?!?!

Hey beautiful brides, I thought I would post the review I wrote for the photographer that we used for our wedding (Renaud from Photo Souvenir): Let me start by saying I am beyond grateful for every moment that was shared with Renaud, as it is because of him that I will forever be able to look back at our wedding and re-live each moment time and time again! My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Renaud for our July 15th, 2013 wedding at The Jellyfish. He is not only humbling to work with but managed to seamlessly catch every significant moment, and then some. After speaking with him, when we arrived in Punta Cana, I knew immediately that we had made the right choice. Renaud is very personable and attentive. He began with taking shots of myself and my bridesmaids getting ready, at our hotel (The Majestic Colonial) where he worked amongst a bunch of excited and overemotional women… that alone is a feat in itself J From there he met us at The Jellyfish where he caught our most meaningful moments: the touching first look with my father, our breath-taking ceremony, and our wonderful reception.  He missed nothing ! He was hardly seen yet he caught everything. When the time came for directions to be given (i.e. large group shot, pictures with the bridal party, etc) Renaud was able to guide all 70 of our guests and our bridal party together to capture striking shots. The following day we did a Trash the Dress session and I can tell you that I have NEVER felt so beautiful! It was a wonderful bonding experience for my husband and I (and yes my dress is just fine J). Renaud was delightful to spend time with and did a brilliant job with our pictures. If there is anything that I can leave you with let it be this: Your pictures are all you have once the moment has passed and more than anything else you want someone who feels the way your do about your day, to capture every little detail; Though Renaudâ€s lenses I can see that he understood all of our overwhelming emotions because  there is not a picture that I would trade for all the money in the world. Thank you Photo Souvenir. Thank you Renaud for being the wonderful you that you are. Wishing all of you happy couples many years of endless love. On our wedding day :)            LL Sorry I  couldn't add more photos... the program said I exceed the limit :(
Can you send it to me [email protected] Thank you. Your doctor pictures are amazing.

Hi ladies!

I just got back from my Jellyfish wedding! It was INCREDIBLE. You are in for quite a treat!

Here's my review:

JELLYFISH REVIEW

VANESSA + KYLE 8.10.13

TASTING / MEETING WITH MAYTE:

Sheâ€s AMAZING! Ladies, you are in GOOD hands! Put your faith in her and you will get so much in return. My fiancé met with her 2 days to our wedding. I know that sounds a bit nerve wrecking, but again you have nothing to worry about. She has all of the details of your wedding! Youâ€re in for quite a treat! We had a tasting of our appetizers, menu, and cocktail drinks. The food and drinks were beyond delicious! So good! She will bring out so many options and is so thoughtful with the choices.  In terms of appetizers, we went with the butterfly bacon shrimp and hot pockets. We went with Menu #1 for our dinner option.

She discussed final details of the wedding and her vision for the day. I let her run with it… and boy Iâ€m glad I did! Our colors were Coral and Grey… my Pinterest board came to LIFE! Everything came together BEAUTIFULLY!

In terms of payment, we transferred a portion of it prior to our arrival and paid the rest in cash. I know that can be uncomfortable, but it worked out fine. We were happy to disperse the cash during our meeting. Haha!

WEDDING DAY:

My guests and I stayed at Majestic Elegance. Transportation arrived on time and we arrived to the Jellyfish in about 20 minutes or so with our immediate family / bridal party. We had some time to take some final pictures before the ceremony / guests arriving. Mayte has everything under control! Once you get there… relax and enjoy the moment. She will let you know when you will need to ‘hide†and will cue you / bridal party to walk down the aisle.

We also had Pastor Mark officiate our marriage. He is so nice and did an incredible job! You will feel comfortable with him! He will even have a ‘fake†certificate for you to sign. The ceremony itself was about 20-30 minutes long.

Jellyfish DJ / MC were AWESOME! I met with the MC immediately after the ceremony to discuss wedding party introductions, the flow of the wedding, etc…  He will double-check everything with you! Everything went incredibly smoothly.

We had a cocktail drink option, dinner drinks and open bar for 3 hours of the wedding. Being Dominican, we went with the local options for our drinks. Our guests loved it!

We flew down our photographer (MNC Photography – heâ€s incredible, check him out!) We couldnâ€t be more than happy with that decision. We also used Punta Cana Corres Film as our videographer. I will share those pictures / video as soon as I have it!

We had 66 guests attend our wedding and reserved the bottom section of the Jellyfish. We had a dance floor outside. and it was a BEAUTIFUL night to dance! Couldnâ€t have asked for better weather in August! J My family is from the Dominican Republic and it wouldnâ€t be a Dominican wedding without a Crazy Hour! We did the Crazy Hour show and our guests LOVED it! It brought so much energy to the party. There were show dancers, break-style dancers and the fire show.  SO MUCH FUN. LOVED IT!

We had one bus take guests home around 10:30 or so and the rest of us left around midnight. We had the most amazing time! We received so many compliments from our guests that it was the best wedding they ever went to.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
