Jellyfish Restaurant

MNtoMX, I just sent Mayte a few pictures of what I have in mind for a cake/cupcakes. When she writes back to me with the quote, I can share the quote with you if you'd like. And send you pics of what cakes I found online. If you google wedding cupcakes, you'll see tons of ideas/pictures. That's where I got my inspiration. But I haven't heard back from Mayte yet. This time around she's taking a lot longer than usual. But I know she's busy.

Great! Thank you, that helps with planning and budget. We weren't going to do a cake but I think I would like a small one.

As for pictures, Mayte really wants you to send her a picture of what you want, and she takes that to the bakery and they do their best to match it. She won't give you options - tells you anything is possible! I sent her a picture of a cake I found online and she said that she'd get it done (also said she had extra ideas that she thought I'd love... I said go for it :)). Flavours, same thing, she just asked me and told me they could probably do anything.

Thank you for the info on your deposit Astef! We sent ours in last Thursday and I received an email from Mayte on Saturday saying she had received it.

It's annoying that it cost $30 to wire the money over, but I guess it's worth it to know that your confirmed.

Anyone having trouble with flight costs currently.

I've been to the DR twice previously and never spent more than $500 per RT flight.

Currently looking at over $700.

OUCH!

We are finding that with flights also. Although I have never been to the DR so I dont havemuch to compare it to. Right now from MN they are around $700; however, I have been looking at flights out of Boston as well becuase I have family coming from there and I would think they would be significantly cheaper although it isn't. It's tough to know if people should book packages now or if they should just book the room now and wait to see if flights drop

I ended up gettings ours for a little under $500 and that is a direct flight from Detroit, MI.  I had looked about a month prior to booking and it was $900.  I was ready to change it all at that point but waited it out.  It seems that it really changes week to week.  If you see it at a good rate be sure to contact your TA and have them hold it for you....mine held for one week.  But I am worried about my guests now seeing that prices have gone up.  :(  Best of luck!!

Hi Everyone!! I have been using this forum for research for a long time now.. and seeing your pictures and comments were the deciding facts in choosing the Jellyfish as our ceremony and reception site! I am confirmed for May 18th 2012!

I could use your help answering a few questions... And maybe I can help some of you since I am in contact with Mayte.

Pastor York can only perform our ceremony @ 6:00PM. For those of you that have been to the Dominican , is that too late? Mayte says it is perfect but I am afraid it will be dark and such...

Also, has anyone stayed at the Grand Palladium or Catalonia resorts? Which one would recommend?

I cannot contact Grand Palladium directly, not sure why? Anyone has a direct number for their reservations department??? I do not want to use a TA.

Thank you so much !!!

Hi guys!!

I was just in NYC two weekends ago and one of you came up to me in the middle of a street fair and said hi and that you recognized me from my posts and pictures on here.  For the life of me I can't remember your name because I was so shocked you had seen me - what a small world!  I was so happy and surprised.  Help me remember???  LOL

Megan

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
