Jellyfish Restaurant

Thanks Mimiq for all of your answers! You have been such a great help. I have a question, do you think the restaurant will comfortably sit 100 adults and 8 children? I have a large group going to DR for our wedding and am not sure if budget will permit us to reserve the entire restaurant. Do you think everyone could sit on the lower level? Also, if other patrons are there, do you think their dining will interrupt our group or do you not really notice they are there?

My pleasure!  The one thing I will say is that the restaurant is smaller than it appears to be in the pictures!  Hmmm, based on our numbers, I would think that 100 people and 8 kids might be a bit tight downstairs, but I think I read somewhere that the max capacity is 100.  I'm not positive though.  If Mayte says she can do it, believe her.

I know that most people don't rent out the whole restaurant and it doesn't usually seem to be a big deal.  It was important to my fiance and we had some extra room in our budget, so we ended up renting the whole thing out.  We were happy with that decision, but it's definitely not a necessity.

Hi Mimi - how close to the wedding did Mayte start replying to your emails more? Just trying to ease my nerves. I'm 8 weeks out and we haven't talked in awhile! I emailed her last Friday and expect I will eventually hear from her, but I don't want to start stressing about that too. So I just figured I would ask to help ease my mind :)

To be honest, I waited for about a week and a half when I was less than a week away from leaving.  I wasn't too stressed about it until I realized that we hadn't actually set up our meeting!  She was super busy for the month of November with 23 weddings (and I think that's just the start of the busy season), so know that she's definitely not ignoring you.  She's just insanely busy.  I tried to make use of this forum for any advice/questions that I had and leave only the really specific stuff for emails to Mayte.  I know there are some things that only she can answer though.  There was a period about 3 weeks out from the wedding when I heard from hear within about 48 hours a few times, but then she got swamped again and that's when I didn't hear from her for about a week and a half.  You will hear from her eventually!  I'm not sure if that puts your mind at ease at all, but try not to stress!  It will all be amazing (although it's harder to believe when you haven't been through it yet!).  If I can help at all, just ask!  PM me if that's better for you question :)

Thank you!! From reading the forums for the last year, I decided to wait until I was closer to send one email with the flowers, inspiration pictures, etc. I sent that about a week ago, so I am just going to hold out until I hear from her and then hopefully anything else can wait until we meet with her! I will definitely PM you if I have any questions :) Thanks so much for being so helpful!

Hey Kaylin!  I sent an email to Mayte earlier this week with my inspiration pics, etc.  It sounds like we're on the same schedule!  Haven't heard back yet, but I know she's busy.

Question for you, and others...do you know if we have to choose the menu beforehand, or can we decide at the meeting/tasting?

Can't believe we're less than 2 months away!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
