Is your TA booking through the link for MP? If so, unfortunately, I don't think there's anything you can do... maybe ask your TA to ask MP if they will lower the group rate for you...

Basically, the deals they're getting on Expedia, Travelocity, etc is because of the flight+hotel combo -- you can't say if the discounted price is coming from airfare or from the hotel. Odds are, they're sharing the cheaper price...

We had 1 guest find a cheaper package on Expedia, he called MP and they booked him and matched Expedia's price... but then the TA at MP got in trouble with the weddings department, so I would NOT recommend doing that. They told us that we HAVE to use the wedding link for our bookings to get the wedding room nights...

I know that sucks, but it's the flight prices right now that are killing us I think...

I don't know if its common for those type of websites to be cheaper but I don't know what to do now! Any suggestions?! Can the TA find lower pricing?! I am waiting to hear from her but thought maybe someone on here would know more info!

Our TA is booking through MLP vacations...not even sure what that is. My Fiance is going to meet with her this afternoon about our group contract. We had received the group contract from someone at MP our TA said not to sign that. I am thinking if my guests do end up booking through expedia or whatever our rooms might not be anywhere near each other or on the opposite side of the resort but I really have no idea how that all works out!

Congratulations and welcome. You will eventually find almost everything you need from this website.

Here's my answers/suggestions:

  1. Make a playlist of songs that you and your guests will enjoy, and use the iPod speaker system for $250.
  2. You can use the $1500 towards wedding packages, but not towards wedding photography and video. You can purchase a family photo shoot from smile market with palace dollars.
  3. You get one private dinner reservation for up to 35 people at some restaurants and it depends on how many guests are attending. If you don't qualify for free private events, the cocktail hour starts at $600 and the private functions are $400 for each table of 10 for 2 hours.
  4. I ordered my real touch flowers from afloral.com and they were great. I made BM bouquets and boutonnieres. At MP, I had them add my real touch flowers to the complimentary bouquet. The table top arrangements were $90 each and not bad, the mother's corsages were $45 each and totally not worth the money.
  5. The palace dollars are per room. It doesn't matter if it is just one person or 4.
  6. I didn't change anything in our contract, but we are members, so we knew what to expect.
  7. We paid $300 when we signed the contract, 20% room deposit when we reserved, room balance was due 1 month before departure, and everything else was paid when we checked out. It varies depending on how you book. My advice is to get rates from a TA and also try to find a member that will give you their rate. There certainly are a few more perks to membership.

I just booked our wedding at Moon Palace for August 23, 2011!

We are so excited!!

I am not sure how many of our guests are going to be able to make it down there but I am hoping that we get a good turn out.

I have a few questions after reading many of these threads.

1.  If you want to dance and have a good time at the reception would you still choose the ipod dock? Or would you pay the $1400 for the DJ?

2.  Can you use the $1500 towards a photo package?

3.  I am sooo confused about how the reception, arrival dinner, rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, etc works?

-What do you recommend out of these?  How much extra are each of these?

4.  Does anyone know a site for real looking FAKE flowers that they can bring?  I have heard that MP's flowers are pretty pricy and I was hoping for a cheaper route.

5.  Does each guest also get the $1500 vacation points? ( I had heard that this was given to anyone as long as they are staying for three nights.)

6.  So far I have a contract sent to me that I still have to sign.  Is there anything that I should add/change in my contract before I sign it?

7.  When is all of the money due?

Lots and Lots of questions.  It's so wonderful to have a go to site like this!  The wedding consultants in Miami are so difficult to reach!!

Happy Planning Everyone!!

kris10kay, if you book through MP ask for a specific section. Otherwise, you'll probably end up in Nizuc which is the oldest part and pretty quiet. That's where they stick most of the discounted rooms. If people book separately, they won't be near you. They may be able to request a room change once you get there, but not between nizuc, sunrise and grand.

Mocha, is it true that the NIzuic side has little to no double beds and more king beds? I am asking b/c I was told that my wedding group would mostly be on the Sunrise side b/c I have a lot of  double bed requests and for the king size one it would be harder on the Sunrise side since they don't have as much.

Rae, I am not a member but I found my TA through the Tammy from the BDW board. She recommended me to my TA Teresa from Vacations 4 less and she even beat the price that the Moon Palace originally offered me. She's been great through he whole process. Let me know if you want me to post her information b/c she can get you the same promotions and deals as if you went through the Moon Palace.

Terpgurl - I don't know how the beds are distributed. I know we requested to be in Sunrise and my only regret is not picking on the MP map which part of Sunrise. We were kind of far from the pool area and a few of us upgraded our rooms to be closer. Nizuc is kind of boring and so much smaller in comparison.

Rae - If you're using a TA, definitely have Tammy hook you up. If you're looking at member rates, I would suggest checking the palace resorts facebook page for members willing to help with your wedding. The people on there will give you pricing and tell you about the perks.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
