Has anyone used Pastor York for the ceremony and had the judge come after to sign? I am just curious how it works. Does the judge have to say anything or is it a matter of him signing papers? Can he just show up anytime before or after the ceremony? We have Pastor York booked for our January 2012 wedding, but would like it to be legalized by the judge if possible. Is the judge hard to get? How far in advance do you have to book him? Also how much of a hassle is the paper work/legalization process?

Pastor York only does symbolic ceremonies not legal ceremonies.  You would have to communicate with your WC to ensure that the judge can make it legal f they dont perform the ceremony.  I don't think it is possible but you may as well look into it!!!

Good luck!

The couples I've spoken with who have done this met with the judge earlier in the day to do the legal portion then had Pastor York officiate the actual ceremony. So technically they were married after the judge had them sign but theny they were married symbollically in front of their family and friends that same day.

Yes, I agree it would be much easier and less stressful (not to mention much cheaper) to do it at home before going down. We will more then likely be doing that. My WC told me that the DR is the most expensive country to do a legal marriage in. Not sure if that is true or not? Any other brides find it super expensive?

I had originally heard back from Pastor York that he was not available on my wedding day....I asked if I could be put on a 'stand-by" list and low and behold he just contacted me and my date has now come open....yeah oh yeah oh yeah.....crossing fingers and toes does help I guess! LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
