Changed Wedding reception site HELP!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I received an URGENT e-mail from my wedding coordinator at the Paradisus Palma Real this afternoon. Basically, although we have reserved our date for 5.22.10 (over a year ago) there is some sort of corporate party coming in to have an event that same date and ours has been bumped. They want to move it to the Reserve section of the resort. I am freaking. HTB is bombarding me with questions and says that he has a bad feeling that things will not go well due to this change. He also wants to change hotel altogether but I fear that it will make things worse and be harder than he thinks. I'm due to speak with her tomorrow and so far things have been going really great with her but I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has any advice or ideas. Thanks!

Well I haven't been in this exact situation. However any time my plans get bumped because of some other event, it never goes the way it shoul have. I say just express your concern to her and make sure that your day will not be ruined because they have another event going on. Maybe get her to put it in writing? I hope it all works out for you

oh no that sucks!! how can they change your location like that with just 3 months to go?!? can she send you pics of the new location? I think that if you're ok with what she shows you, it'd be easier to stay with that resort, especially so close to the date. HOWEVER make sure to get everthing in writing and to receive some type of compensation for this, free, free, free!!!

Hi JerseyBride

Did they want to change both reception and ceremony or just reception? What location at the PPR were you scheduled to have each at? The Reserve is a beautiful location the only thing you won't have is the beach/palm trees in the background and i'm sure they'd have a beautiful setup for the reception. I've stayed at the Reserve, if you have any questions feel free to ask. You might want to try and get them to give you the open air Gabi Beach Restaurant location which they normally I believe 10k.

Changing hotels will likely be hard and most of the good ones will be booked for that date by this time. Also, it would likely be difficult for guests to change their reservations without a penalty.

My guess is this likely was nothing to do with the Romance Department and they will still give you an amazing wedding. I would defintely push to get an extremely large discount and have them throw in some extras. Make the most out of this stressful situation.

I agree. Your wedding is only a few months away, and you don't want to have to be worrying about a NEW hotel/vendors/etc! Definitely express your concerns and see what they can do for YOU since they are changing things all of a sudden. Maybe you can get a few freebies out of it! Try not to stress... easier said then done. I am sure your wedding day will be incredible either way!

Hi- late to the game here but we had the same thing happen. We are going to be at Gabi Terrace for our reception after our ceremony at Naos Beach. I think it will be totally fine. We were going to be on Olympic Terrace and now we are just at the Gabi Terrace. I agree- it's too late to try and change everything. Talk to Teresa, she will take care of you I am sure. We leave on Sunday so I'll let you know how it goes when we get back in March!

I think you need to try and put a positive head on.The changes that are being forced on you give you licence to get some fantastic freebies.Ive had a very quick look at the website and quite honestly the reserve looks very swish.Im sure they will exceed your expectations.Gag your H2B whilst you negotiate ALL the freebies that they are gunna give you and relax.Your wedding resort looks absolutly georgeous in three short months youll be back on here shouting out how well they all did.I would for sure get all those freebies down in writing.Things happen for a reason im sure you will be more than ok. xxx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
