I had it finally narrowed down to Dreams Riviera Cancun and Aventura Spa Palace- the thing I did not like about Aventura is that it is located on a lagoon- not actually ON the beach. Also- Dreams is fairly new as it was just opened in Oct 2009. I used Trip Advisor A LOT to see peoples resposes and photos (not just the resort's photos). I am also using a wedding planner/travel agent from destinationweddings.com. You pay $50 and they help TREMENDOUSLY!! They help with all your decisions and then work as your and all your guests travel agents! (and once you book your hotel and etc- you get the $50 back)

I am still not 100% sure on all the prices- but you will find once you book that all the people down there are on their own time. They do not answer emails like we do-- they take a few days and they will drive you crazy!! :) So the earlier you can jump on it, the better! Let me know if I can help you anymore!

How funny...Dreams Riviera Cancun and Aventura Cove Palace are my top two right now!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the guest rooms at Dreams Riviera...and from initial searches it seems to be a bit cheaper for our guests. The main draw of Aventura Cove Palace for us is the ability to quality for "free unlimited private events"...which include cocktail and reception dinners. We are anticipating a rather large group....so I have a feeling that a private reception at Dreams Riviera Cancun is going to get pretty pricey sad.gif But like you said....Aventura isn't directly on the beach...which I'm sure our guests will be expecting if they fly all the way to Mexico. SO, that is where we stand right now...haha...decisions decisions!!

I'm actually in the process of signing up with one of the TAs on this site...I think we are definitely going to need it!! Thank you so much for your thoughts...it's always good to hear why another bride choose her resort :)

Thanks!!

Thanks ladies! The process of trying to decide a location is so stressful but I found once I picked the place, you'll feel better. Is anyone planning a site visit? I would really love to but not sure if it's in the budget!

We are not honeymooning in MX. We decided to fly to Miami and take a cruise from there!

I have a great TA in Greensboro that I love if anyone is looking.

I'm in Charlotte too! (well, actually Lake Norman but close enough - lol)

Got a wild hair this morning & decided to see how many NC brides were on here. I'm getting married at Excellence Punta Cana in December. Nice to 'meet' ya'll!

Hi - I live in the Raleigh area and I am having my wedding at Beaches Turks & Caicos. Originally, I was going to have a small wedding here in NC (this is my second marriage) with about 25 people, but is was so expensive for such a small amount of guests. So, we decided to have a destination wedding. We choose Beaches T&C because I have a daughter and I needed to pick someplace that would allow children - and also be fun for her. (I looked into Mexico, but HATE having to take a blood test!!!) The only down side of a destination wedding is we will not have many guests joining us. But we are planning an AHR after we get back. Not sure where we will have that yet.

Looks like I am the latest NC bride - from Raleigh. We haven't picked a date yet because we are looking at November 2011 and it is too early to book a resort. I am looking at either Dreams Cancun or Dreams Puerto Aventuras (each of them have the more private gazebo overlooking the water for the ceremony).

I am looking to have an AHR (more like an AHP - at home party), so I will need to try and find a location for that this fall. I am hoping to put the AHP date on the STD so there are no excuses :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
