Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

mexbride83 - oh you'll have to post your STD's so we can see :o) I would do a website but have no idea how do it..... Very exciting. Let us know how you get on with your photographer. It's best you shop around and get the best price. We have no choice but to go with the hotel photographer really as anything else will be out of budget!

Ahollo02 - Gosh that is a big jump in package price...Which package are you going for?

Linhy - yes i am having the train made shorter. I don't want it that long. The bridal store said it wont be to hard to shorten it. I am also having a slightly smaller hoop under mine so it wont look as big as it does in the picture. I am in love with it though. I agree 100% you have to have what is right for you and makes you feel like a princess... I will probably go with a flower in my hair and a braclet too. I don't want to over do it with too much... if you get what i mean! I need to think of my something old, something new (the dress) something borrowed, something blue!

Ronsoliman,

You won the lottery? Hahaha Were neighbors I’m in Baltimore, MD. What part of Delaware are you in?

I plan on starting my website in about 2 weeks. I want to get my save the dates sent out soon, but I’m still waiting on pricing. If it’s cost prohibitive me and FI will probably go somewhere in the states probably FL. We plan on sending postcard save the dates also. I don’t plan on sending formal invitations, but I want to mention the website to RSVP, etc.

Michelle - I definitely will post them when she's done! She's an awesome graphic design artist, and she's going to design the save-the-dates and monogram for me for free. And then printing on vista print is SO cheap, so it's saving a lot of money:) I'm going to hire her to do our formal invites as well, so that the same design flows through all of them.

I am glad to realize just how much the prices for photographers vary. At first I only got pricing from Claudia, Del Sol, and Elizabeth Medina. Now we've gotten prices from EVERYONE and are doing a big comparison. I'm now leaning towards Moments that Matter, as they just sent me their packages today and they're really reasonable and include a lot! Plus their pictures are my fiance's favorites (after Del Sol, who is more than double their price).

We just sent back the THIRD draft of our contract, and hopefully this time it is done. All that needs to be changed now are the dates (they still have the dates from the old contract, so apparently we have to sign and put down a deposit by Feb 20, 2010:). So hopefully we'll be all booked this week for May 28, 2011! Yay!

I just love showing it off as I LOVE IT :-) I havent bought it yet but will buy it as soon as we have booked wedding.

Im not wearing a bracelet, I will prob wear small diamond earrings and then my back drop neckless :-)

Mexbride83... Strangely enough I started our website 2 nights ago.... I wasnt going to bother but the more i see them the more i think its just what i need to get the same message to everyone without being asked the same questions loads of times by everyone, Im not using ours the same as most people though as were not including "how we met" "about us" or things like that basically its just being used to give everyone info on the hotel, pics of hotel, flights and prices etc... Cant wait til its done :-)

Oooooo, & your nearly All booked.... excelent!!!!!

Michelle... I know what you mean about it being good if we were all there to get together..... But im sure us chatting on here for the next year + & our reviews and pics will make us feel like we have met up and we can share each others experience the virtual way!!!

Its really nice that we can all get together on here like this :-)

Mine is as complete as it can be. Did one on theknot.com for free and it's super cute. Until we get prices and a start time picked out for our reception, it's at a stand still.

Nicola - That's exactly what we plan to do as well! I don't think I would have a wedding site if it wasn't a destination wedding, because I'm just not the type who wants all of our information out there on the internet... and I have to be honest here, I know that I've searched The Knot for wedding websites of people that I know are engaged, who I'm not necessarily friends with but I just am nosey, and read their pages, so I also don't want people being able to do that to me hahaha. Terrible, I know! But I think that it is important for a DW to get all of the travel info across and to get an online RSVP so you have an idea of who is planning to attend.

Actually, I am a tech geek, I did my bcom major in M.I.S with a minor in Finance, and thanks to the Tech Bubble, I ended up in Finance.

I started my website with my own URL domain, uploaded our theme song, and a few pics of me, fiancé, and our sons (2 cats and 1 dog). But there are still a lot to be added. I will wait til I have my engagement pics taken, location+date set, then I will send out my STD with my website address. Plus my fiancé's families+friends are mostly french speaking folks from Europe, so the site is bilingual (double the work). However, I am very happy with the site so far...and will keep it on a CD after! heehee..what a geek!

I am also a 2011 bride. I have managed to secure the date of March 4/11 with the GBP Akumal without having to wait for booking numbers with travel agents. I did get pricing for group bookings but they were on the high side and thought that I could wait since the hotel went ahead and confirmed the date without this information. My FI and I were at that resort in March 09 so we have a good idea of the layout of the resort and really loved it so much that it seemed perfect to return there for our wedding. Can't wait to move to the next step with the TA and get all the flights booked and secured.

I'm thinking of going with the cheaper one (moonlight).. only because it's over 1,000 bucks cheaper than the other one!! I don't wanna be stingy but I wann save money for a photographer too!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
