Any Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides out there???

Recommended Posts

Hey junebride12,

I'm not exactly sure how many people the pier can hold but we had about 36 of us and it was great. People could still mingle and it was beautiful to be right on the water. I would ask the WC what their max capacity is.

Good luck!

I was thinking of having the reception in the outside balcony location, but I also don't want it to be too hot. How is the Lobster House? Anyone have any pictures of this place? Do we have to reserve with the wedding coordinator? Also, cocktail hour on the pier sounds beautiful, do you guys know how many people can it hold for?

As for decorations, Nayeli sent me a quote for the chair sashes for $5 a chair, would you guys recommend purchasing the sashes on my own for cheaper possibly?

Any info would be so appreciated!!! And congrats to all the brides planning for ERC! :)

Hi bondgirl0072010 ,If you don't mind me asking what wedfing package did you do and how many guests did you have? All your info has been so helpful to read being that we are getting married here in exactly 4 months, 11-11-11.

Thanks!

Hey ladies! I am just booking to get married there in October 2011! I dont like to hang around - we decided this about 3 weeks ago! So its panic planning.. or not??!?!  We get the free standard wedding package with our booking and as its only me and my fiance going so its not (hopefully) going to be so stressful! I do think the photography package is expensive and poor - only 24 photos! So after surfing this forum I contacted Derek Campbell for a quote. So far he seems the best and cheapest!  I havent been in touch with the hotel about bringing them in? Anyone know how my much they charge to bring them in?

Also bit confused about the ceremony..... is it all in Spanish?  Are you allowed to say your own vows also?

Also I would like to have a private meal on the beach after ..... since we arent having a reception..... anyone know if this costs extra?

Appreciate any help ladies!

  • 3 weeks later...

For all of those that have gotten married and had guests or vendors from outside, I know there is a fee to bring in people, but how does it work in terms of when they arrive and have to leave - do you need to greet them and sign them in when they arrive? and are they kicked out at a certain time?

Hi tsc2012,

I would check with the WC on the stipulations. When I had my wedding and had del Sol we didn't have to sign anyone in but had to notify the hotel. I don't think outside vendors are necessarily "kicked out" by any certain time by the hotel. I would really check closely with the hotel now though because they've changed a lot of policies on outside vendors. I had a different WC at the time who was great and allowed us to exchange things instead of paying the fees. I know there's a different WC there now, and policies always change with different WC's. Sorry I'm not of more help, but I know del Sol was there for the time we paid them. I'm pretty sure the reception (at least when I was there) had to end due to hotel rules by 11pm.

Good luck!

thanks for the info Chelsea!

I know that they still allow outside vendors/guests, I have already confirmed this :)

I just wanted to double check on the process... I have quite a few guests that want to stay at other locations and only come on the wedding day, and I just don't want it to be a hassle if I have to greet them in the lobby each time one of them arrives (or even giving someone this painstaking job).

The wedding stress is definitely starting to kick in!!

Ohhh I gotcha! Good stuff and great idea to have that confirmed!

Unfortunately I'm just not sure how the whole process works about people staying at other resorts. Our guests luckily all stayed there so it wasn't something we ran into. I would definitely check wtih the WC. I agree, it would definitely be a huge pain to have to meet/greet everyone the day of. If that's the case, you may want to designate someone as the official "meeter/greeter" who isn't in the wedding party so you have piece of mind. I know our guests were just hanging out around the resort the day of up until the ceremony, so I'm sure someone would happily stand in the air conditioning and do that for you :)

Just remember to breathe and if there are ways to delegate wedding tasks to designers/vendors...I say go for it! That was something I wish I would have done (I was a bit of a control freak). You want to make sure you're able to relax during your wedding trip (especially the day of :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
