LOL @ "playing camp counselor"...LOL!!

We're planning to turn our rehearsal dinner into a welcome dinner on Friday evening, and the ceremony is Saturday. We were thinking of scheduling an excursion for Sunday and possibly one for Monday also - we just haven't picked them yet. I'm sure one will be a boat ride to Dunns River Falls.

My question is, are any of you planning to pay for your guests to join you on the activity?

I'm trying to keep the cost down so I am not paying for an excursion.

What I am planning to do is welcome cocktails and dinner at the buffet. I am going to suggest some excursions and an excursion company on the website- but let everyone plan (and pay for) their own. Most people coming will know a ton of people already so I think/hope they will form groups and go off and do their own thing too!

We all arrive on a Saturday... (with the exception of one city landing on the Sunday)... wedding Thursday, so Monday night after we meet with the WC and organize everything I am having a non-formal 'Welcome Dinner' at one of the buffets so everyone can meet eachother and we can let everyone know the schedule and location of the wedding. Other than that... I want to organise an optional excursion to Chichen Itza on the Tuesday, because so many of us want to go and I thought it would be fun to fill a bus. I am certainly not paying for anyone, just organizing it so we can all go together for those who want...

I don't know yet about a Rehearsal Dinner... If I plan too many things where people need to be somewhere at a given time I get stressed out (because my FI's family is never on time)... so I am trying to avoid too much of this. I want to relax and go with the flow.

That being said, if we do a Rehearsal Dinner it will be just with our parents and siblings (which is already 11 people out of our 40 guests). I don't to overdo the formal get togethers.

Thanks!
I plan to do an itinerary. My wedding is on a Saturday and we are going to have about 60 guests with half of them arriving on Thursday and the other half on Friday. We're arriving on Thursday as well. I'm not planning anything for Thursday. Friday we will have a welcome/cocktail reception. Saturday is the wedding then the reception. Saturday night we'll probably just have everyone join us in one of the lounges. Sunday I'm going to plan an optional excursion and maybe go to PDC or Cancun on Sunday evening and on Monday everyone will leave. We're staying until Thursday so we can relax after everyone else is gone!!!

I don't plan to pay for any of my guests to go on the excursion. I'm going to have at least 60 guests so that's way out of my budget. I'm going to put it out there as optional so no one will feel obligated to go if they don't want to.

We are planning between 15-20 guests so my FI & I have agreed to pay for the fishing trip for the guys but I think his parents might pick up the bill. They keep asking what they can help with. I was going to do a private rehearsal dinner but I am leaning more towards just meeting at one of the restaurants with everyone. We arrive on Tuesday, his parents on Wed, mine on Thurs, and others on Friday and the wedding is Saturday. I know I am going to have some spa time on Saturday while getting ready for our wedding @ 4.

hello ladies xx

my plan is to insert a page in the welcome pack that lets our guests know which trips we are planning to do and when

explaining that these are optional but that they are also more than welcome to join us on any excursions

with a short sentence stating something like we will meet in the lobby at 10am anyone wishing to join us please feel free to meet us there

as we are all there for 2 weeks i thought it would be nice to do things as a group

i know there may be a couple of excursions that we are going to do just the two of us and we will make that clear in the welcome pack

happy planning xxx

We aren't paying for our guests.  There are 37 of them and we are paying for the wedding and everything else without the help of our parents, so I think they'll understand.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
