Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

they say "domestic" in most cases unless you go with the royal golden, then I think "premium" labels are served.  generally it's the cheap stuff unless you tip well then they'll serve you the good stuff if they have it.  I believe for beer it's again the local stuff.

I was going to order the organza ones as well because they match my colour of coral better.  If anyone hears whether or not the BGP staff will put them on for us, I'd be interested to hear as well!

A question about Tai Flora - they were finally kind enough to send me the sample bouquets, and I'm waiting on pricing.  Just wondering if they were willing to subtract the cost of the bouquet and boutonniere that were included free in our package?  Neither of the free ones are what we are looking for, but it would be too bad if they wouldn't just charge the extra to upgrade.  Also did anyone order floral arrangements for the tables or gazebo? I've asked them to send me a catalogue for additional arrangements, but they haven't ever addressed that question.  Just wondering if anyone has seen samples to use as a starting point?

Looking forward to hearing about all the upcoming weddings! Good luck ladies, I'm sure they'll be perfect! :)

They actually shipped them right away, so I should be getting them shortly if not tomorrow (hopefully)

Ya they shipped them to me from Dallas, the contact person name is Robert here is his email if you have questions [email protected]

I was told by Beverly before she left that they do put them on but if not then I have guests who said they will or get my brother to work :)

I tried to upload it here for you but it says its too big so if you email me at [email protected] Ill send the 2 I got from another bride.

I emailed them a month ago twice and still no reply so I went with Jans - they are so friendly and more than welcome to accomodate you for anything you want. For mine, 3 BM, groom, 3 GM, and four parents its $287 which I thought was more than reasonable, further I have heard that Tai is more expensive.

From other brides on here I think they said they give you a $40 credit if you dont want the free bouquet to get another one...

Hi Girls,

I have definitely been away from the blog for too long. We just finished our jack and jill so it is time to crack down on the wedding planning and get some thing finalized.

I do have a question for anyone who has or is planning on having their reception at the Dolce Vita (given that we are confirmed). We have approx. 50 guests coming and I was wondering how many people you had/ or are planning on having at a table? Were the chairs covered or did you need to purchase chair covers for the ceremony and the reception?

I really want to have candles on the table. What kind of options does the resort offer for this? Are any of you bringing down your own? Do the flames need to be contained or are any of you opting for the battery-operated ones instead? I did see the creative picture frames posted on here- awesome work!

So many things to think about. We are getting married the 11th of July. 7-11-11 should be a date the hubby can remember!!

We are confirmed in the Italian Restaurant and we have 45 people and they didnt say anything so I am assuming its okay, and tables fit either 8 or 10 people. We are doing 8 as I dont want people sitting on the ends of tables. I believe the chair covers are included for the number of people in your package - ie. I am doing the free so it includes 16 people...correct me if I am wrong though?!

We are bringing our own centrepieces down and they have candles that we intend to light so I also hope thats not a problem

I just received my price quote from Tai Flora.  it only took her a couple of days to reply.  I just went back to them on the bouts because I couldn't find which one was included.  the one I want is $18 and that's a rose and orchids in off white so I don't know yet what kind of credit we'll get on the bout.  I asked for 3 the same only because of colours. it just makes it easier. I know the groom is usually a bit different but I really like what I designed so I'm just going to do all 3 the same.  Jennivie told me on a bridal bouquet they'll credit $25 towards whatever you want if you don't take what is with a package at GBPJ but I went back to her on that too because she told me #149 to #164 in the catalogue, but what Chandlyn sent me isn't covered in those numbers except for one. we'll see what she comes back with.  I also asked for an approximate quote on a semi-cascade and a cascade just to see.  otherwise my MOH boquet is perfect, the FG posey is a great price and the corsage for the MIL is godd too. the one other thing I want is a fresh flower cake top so I sent her a pic of roughly what I want to see what she says for price. what I have now for 3 bouts, MOH bouquet, FG posey, MIL wrist corsage with roses and orchids in 2 colours and a bag of petals is $273 with the taxes.  I figure we'll be close to $400 with all of it.

is anyone, or does anyone know anyone, that is doing or has done the sand ceremony?  Tai Flora wants $70 for it but they'll seal it up to bring home.  I've looked on a couple of the wedding sites and they're cheaper but don't include anything to "close it up" to fly back.  the sand colours too are a bit funky too. any suggestions or recommendations????

if anyone really wants the flavour of Jamaica in their ceremony here is a link for steel drum music. check it out. the guy is pretty good and he has ALL the traditional wedding music.  I'm not paying for the steel band but this guy has all of it anyway.  we even put a couple of the tunes on our wedding website.  I ordered his albums and he sent the mp3 links for only $6 US each through PayPal, plus bonus tracks.  I figure we'll make up a CD and maybe use it as background music while we're signing the licence and even while we're doing pictures at the gazebo or something. http://www.steeldrummusic.net/  I think I know which one I want for that looooooong walk down that walkway but still deciding.

Thanks :) I just bought the MP3 as well !!! We are hiring the steel drum band but I just want the music for my own haha.  Perhaps we can play it later since we only have the band for 1 hour.

Thanks Katelynn, I'd completely forgot about Jan's as an option.  I'm going to go ahead and contact them as well for a quote just to compare!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
