Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hey Hey! I'm scheduled for a 4pm ceremony, dinner at the Dolce Vita and the gazebo with DJ in the evening. So exciting! Maybe we'll see you there. I have had some difficulty back and forth with the WC's. I plan on calling mid-October to try and figure some things out, while still giving myself time to change some things if I need to (like the way I bring my music for example.) My grandma is a seamstress, so she's bringing a travel steamer for me. I've heard other brides say they are/or have steamed up their bathrooms with their dress in it, and it usually does the trick. Or, buy a steamer? :)
Hi There We've reserved the Dolce Vita too! Wondering if you mind sharing how much they've quoted you. We are going with the 3000$ romance extravaganza package but they are trying to upcharge us another 2500$ for the Dolce Vita which I find to be ridiculous. Hoping you can share. Thanks!

I just found in the Wedding Information sheet that was sent to me by Stephany in Mar 2013.  It says you can have up to 70 guests at the restaurant in a semi-private setting... To rent the Dolce Vita for a private dinner it is $2500, Piscis is $1700.
Hi! Do you know if the Dolce Vita cost is only if you dont go with one of their wedding packages? Or is above and beyond? I think it is BS if they try charging 2500$ for the Dolce on top of a 3000$ wedding package! ....

Hi if you send me your email address I can send you some pics that i received of the piscis.  It is a covered outdoor area right by the beach.  They do decorate it with mini lights on the trees but you can add lanterns etc if you want to add some colour.  It's a beautiful setting as I was there on vacation just this April.  You will get beautiful sunset shots.  It is quite informal, but  the view to me is what made me choose it for my reception.  Also it's private, away from most things.  There is a bar there too.  If your looking for more formal then I would suggest the Italian restaurant which is right next door.  I have pics of that too.  The Italian restaurant is indoors, they have a little section off to the side which they reserve for weddings etc.  It's away from the main resort guests.  If you don't want to pay for the Piscis, but still want that private feeling then this would be the way to go.  The steakhouse is not private at all......i did not like that.....however I liked the food there.  If you rent the Piscis, yu can choose your menu from any of the restaurants.  Hope this helps.   Barb
Hi Barb Wondering if you could pls post or email photos of the Dolce ([email protected]). Even tho it's indoors can you still see the water / sunset? Also, how small of a section is it inside for weddings? Do you think its at least big enough to seat 60 ppl? What about dancing afterward? Thanks in advance for any more insight you can share + photos!

It's definitely above and beyond the wedding package price!

I was under the impression that if you rent out one of the indoor restaurants (e.g., the Dolce) for 2500 that only include the private dinner and does not include dancing or DJ after. Based on this forum it sounds like people who have their dinner at one of the indoor restaurants typically rent out the gazebo for dancing or just go to the disco. Please correct me if i'm wrong :)

Renting out the Piscis for $1700 includes the DJ and dancing after.

From what I understand is that NONE of the wedding packages come with a PRIVATE reception dinner.  They are all Semi private.  If you want to have a private one then you have to rent out the Piscis or Dolce Vita for a private reception at an extra cost!  I believe that both come with appox 2-3 hours of dancing but you still have to pay for the open bar service (I think ...please correct me if I'm wrong)

I also believe that the semi private reception venues will only accommodate a maximum number of people, and once you go over that number you have to rent out a private venue (piscis or dolce) also at the additional cost!

Hopefully this helps some!!

Yep! That sounds about right.  I am going to be renting the Piscis for a private reception. The dinner is roughly two hours, where apparently they only serve beer and wine...and it comes with 2 hours of the DJ afterwards for dancing, etc.  If one wants an open bar for the two hours after dinner, I believe they quoted me something like $23 per person for the 2 hours.  I kinda think charging on a per person basis is ridiculous, if all we are paying for is the bartender's time.  It should just be a straight rate.  That's just my rant and opinion though!

Hello,

I am also having the same problems...  It takes days to hear back from anyone, i am sure that they are busy but with my wedding coming up so fast, it is making me nervous! I was wondering if anyone was able to find a henna artist out there? I am getting married in a month and no one at the resort seems to have a contact for me... any suggestions?

Thank you!!

Whitney

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
