So in May when we confirmed the date with the resort .. we sent out an email ... with a quick blurb .. Save the date blah blah ..

I sent a formal STD out ~ beginning of June ... with prepaid postcards ... and got a number of responses back and also via verbal reply ...

I am 5 months out ..and I feel like I still need a more definite count .. as only a few have booked through the travel agent ..

Should I send something else out now?? granted alot of our guests will book themselves but I still feel like I need an exact count ..

Do you plan to send invitations with RSVP cards? I think we sent our Invites like 6mo out because we wanted a more accurate head count

I agree! You will go crazy if you don't have a more exact count of guests...it's really hard to plan things without this info...

We sent out a formal invitation with a very specific RSVP date. We requested that our guests book everything by a certain date so that we could go ahead with our planning. I don't think it's too much to ask for a deadline...you might get a few people who miss the deadline, but at least you will have a much more accurate count...

For us, we requested that our guests confirm everything about 3-4 months in advance...

          Good luck!!

We're a month out and STILL don't have final numbers...
we've got a good estimate but I don't think we'll have anything definite, probably until we get to Mexico. A little frustrating but I just try and not sweat the small stuff!

I know the feeling.... The deadline for the guests to book it coming up and we have a whole bunch of people that RSVP but no one has booked... very fustrating.... But once that date comes up which is Nov 5 I am hoping I have a better idea of who is really going... Good Luck

That must be so frustrating for you!

Maybe do some postcards up on Vista - pretty cheap, good reminder of the holiday and have the back with all the details of your travel agent and all the travel details should they wish to take this card to their own travel agent.

I'd even put a cheeky line in about deals getting more expensive and not wanting anyone to miss out on the fantastic offer you got them!

If you make it all about benefits to them, it wont be you pesting them cause you want to know numbers, and it may be the push that people need to get booked.

I would also want a better idea of numbers, expecially for your DW reception. It sounds in your original post as though you would feel better with a better idea of your numbers. I would say send your invites, or something with a firm date to respond by. And you wouldn't be a pest! It's a wedding, and generally people expect to respond to an invitation for a wedding.

Wow! That must feel frustrating really. If this is any consolation...as long as you and your fiancĀ© are there that's what matters most. Have you tried calling/talking to his parents to see what's up? If I were you I would send an email out to your guests reminding them that the deadline is 2 weeks away and if they want to get in on the deals you've worked out with your TA they should book now before it's too late. Do you know if they are trying to stay elsewhere so they don't have to pay now? You might want to poll a few guests to see what the issue is. People just don't realize that planning a wedding costs time and money, or if they're already married maybe they forgot. I empathize with you though. That's not cool.
