May 2010 Brides!

Oh Boy the Bachelorette outfit is a pain in my neck too! My sister said wear pink...so everyone is scrambling...but I really haven't seen anything in pink I like. UGH!

I keep saying "oh next weekend or over the week" and it's not really the case anymore. I don't have a free weekend left. Next weekend is Easter, then bachelorette/bachelor parties, then a charity outing and then the last weekend before we leave monday the 26th, if I am packing that weekend....so help me God!

Finding the perfect outfit is tough! And limiting it to a color makes it even harder! What if all the girls wear black & you wear white? Or red or your fav color? Good luck finding something you like!

I opted out of a traditional bachelorette party so luckily I don't have that stress. Actually my mini-bach party was when I was home in Chicago in January for a BD shoot with just the bridesmaids & then out to dinner & drinks.

Amy, how great! Vegas!! I've never been, but having 10 people go with you sounds like sooo much fun!

I'm in the same mind-set (ordering stuff & then returning what I don't like). So far I've ordered a David's Bridal short bridesmaid dress in ivory. Didn't love it so it went back. Then I bought a dress at White House Black Market, brought it home but don't love it so it's going back too. I really love this BCBG dress from last year (ivory taffeta w/ straps and a ruffled hem) but it's only made in black now. I emailed Light in the Box to see if they can make it for me. We'll see.

What kind of dress are you looking for?

So here's what I've been working on.

our pre-wedding packages. We had to get two different styles of luggage tags b/c I couldn't find more of the ones from Michaels (the larger ones). Everyone in our family will get the larger ones and the rest of the guests are getting the ones with the dots. We had to get some in pink & orange too.

We only have 3 kids coming (FI's niece & nephews) so we got them their own special luggage tags

These are the table #'s & place cards. I ordered Mexican Talavera tiles, painted the backs with terracotta colored paint & then will write names/table # on the backs. Each couple will get a different tile.

Karen those are so cute! I love the kids luggage tags too :)

Luckily/Unluckily I live a block away from 2 huge malls and a Targe which are all across the street from each other so I am gonna run over there today and hope I score.

We are about 3.5 hours driving / 45 minute flight from Vegas so it was a no brainer to get married there, Elvis here we come :)

Thanks girls! I really like the tiles too. They're basically our favors so I thought people could use them later as trivets, spoon rests or just as decoration.

Shannon, that's a really good question! We have 2 readings (one of my bro's & one of FI's sisters). Then the other day FI said we really need to incorporate his other sister somehow so maybe we'll do a sand ceremony & have her read the poem. Not sure what to give them though. Maybe we can buy them each a piece of Mexican pottery or something local when we get down there.

Amy, are you guys really doing an Elvis wedding?! Love the idea! Even if you don't, Vegas will be awesome!

And I'm jealous of your proximity to shopping! I have nothing around me & it takes forever to take the subway to get anywhere so there's no running out for a quick trip. I can't even find a decent dollar store. They're all pretty ghetto.

I'm totally serious about the Elvis Vegas legal wedding! My friends are super excited about it. I figured it would make for some pretty funny photos and a great way to let loose! I also have a few people unable to come to the wedding that will make it to Vegas which makes super happy :)

Amy that is freaking awesome!!! You get 2 DW's! And one of them with Elvis! :) When are you guys going?

Anyone involving people as part of the wedding without having them do the sand ceremony or a reading? We already have 2 readings & I'm trying to think of some other way to involve FI's sister. He doesn't love the sand ceremony idea, but he said he'll do it if we can't think of something else. why are boys difficult?

I found a cute white, brown & blue dress for my rehearsal dinner. FI also let me in on my secret bridal shower because he knows that I didn't want one (2nd marriage) so told me to be prepared and not to spoil it for my mom, ha! Now to decide what to wear to that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
