Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I participated in the webinar this last weekend and I asked the question about having an outside photographer and Gabby said that you could do that but the photographer would need a day pass and she could not offer any discount off of my package for not using the resort photographer. I believe she said the day pass was $110.

I also asked about having a restaurant at the resort closed for my reception since in my case, the pool deck has already been booked and my fiance' absolutely does not want to have it on the beach, and Gabby said that if you have 40 guests that a restaurant could be closed ( in my case El Pation) however , they would need a 2 month advance notice and there would be some additional fee per person.

Hi,

I was wondering about Deco Cancun as well.  I contacted them and they were very quick to respond. They will ask lots of questions about what you're looking for. (They seem extremely helpful)  They said they dont have a price list but when you email them give them an idea about what you might be looking for and they'll come back with a quote for you.  They will also send you plenty of pics to show you some of the stuff they've done in the past and what they have to offer.

They look like they do beautiful work from the pics but im afraid of what the quotes will look like...I dont have a really big budget for decor....hmmmm.

Thank you so much for this info! We are wanting to use a resturant for our reception as we are having around 50 people. Is there a fee to use the resturant and does that include the food or is it the fee plus per person? THANKS!! :D

I am shipping my stuff there. I have 140 people booked and attending our wedding on November 13th. I can not take it on the plane, Way to much. I am shipping fedex, next week. You can get your items out of customs if they get held up. I work for a government contracting company and my cousin is head of shipping and receiving and he said we should be ok. And if it's held up we can get it out........there are ways to get it out. So I am not worried. Plus I ordered maracas from Mishka and she is shipping all of them to the hotel as well. Just a thought for those of you considering shipping. Your stuff could easily get held up at the airport once you go through security and customs as well. We witnessed this when I did my site visit.

The fee to use a restaurant for a private group is the same as what you would pay if you have your reception on the pool deck, or beach, or wherever. There is no savings, it's just another alternate place you can have your reception.

Did you order a maraca for each of your guests???  How many did you end up getting?  We are anticipating a large group also - but not quite as big as yours. I'll be anxiously awaiting your review.  Hope all works out fabulously for you!!!!

People who have gotten married there- what did you do??  Advice is needed!!  thanks so much!!

I got married there in February and we had 30 people.  I had a ton of stuff to bring down...it filled 4 suitcases.  I brought 2 and my parents brought 2 (I should have spread it out a little better though because all of those suitcases ended up being overweight).  I had all of the receipts with me for everything.  When we went through customs in Mexico, they put the bags through the x-ray machine and one of them had little notebooks in them - they asked me what they were and I told them and told them that they were for a wedding....that was it - they didn't even search the suitcase.  My parents had no problem either.  I think that as long as you have receipts for everything and tell them it is for a wedding - you will be okay.  I think that somewhere on here, there is a whole thread about taking wedding stuff to Mexico and bringing it with you vs. shipping it.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to add...I also had maracas from Mishka and she shipped them to the resort.  She ships her stuff from Mexico though.  Those got there fine but Mishka keeps in contact with the wedding coordinator to let them know that she shipped them and when they are supposed to arrive and she ships them right to the wedding coordinator.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
