I've seen some beautiful pics of girls who had their reception outside on the grass or sand. There were round tables, a dance floor and dj, their own bar outside... Which resorts do this?
I've been looking at Riu for my wedding but I know they don't offer this. They let you have your reception at one of two restaraunt options. If you know any resorts or remember seeing pics with the outdoor reception please share!!! Gracias!

Which resorts let you do an outdoor reception?

It depends on what you mean for outdoor reception. Most resorts offer a open air restaurant that you can book on the beach. They also setup tables on the beach at the resorts. I have seen basic dance floors and I know the Princess has a lighted dance floor that is really neat. Catalonia, Dreams, Princess, El Dorado, The Royal ... the list is quit long, but they all offer something.

I had an outdoor reception at the JW Marriott. I wanna say 90% of the resorts obviously do it outside. Theres so many options..Hilton, Hyatt, Dreams, Royals..

I agree, I'm getting married at the Paradisus and my reception will be outdoors. I did come across a lot of other resorts that would allow me to when I was trying to narrow down my options. Just ask and most of them will be very accomodating.

that was actually something that i was looking for as well and we found they do this at the barcelo resorts. So we will be having ours either outside on the beach or at the open air grill by the beach...check it out. its the barcelo maya colonial beach resort in the mayan riviera. It is a large complex of 5 resorts!!! good luck!

I had my wedding at Secrets Maroma Beach and I am SO glad that I had it there. (for many reasons).
We had our reception inside at a restaurant because I hate strong winds. Simistar was married at SMB as well last December and had her reception by the pool. Here is the link to her review:

Thanks for the responses!
Anyone have any luck trying to do this at the Riu? I haven't officially picked a place yet so it may or may not change, I will look at the suggestions above!

I know you can do it at the AZUL Beach as thats what I am planning! There is one place on the beach and the dance floor is an extra charge. There might be an open air but covered roof restaurant too.

Dreams Cancun has several outdoor reception choices - you can choose from two beaches, the garden area, or the terrace. There you can also pick a DJ, lighted or non-lighted dance floor, lighting, etc.

The occidental grand xcaret near playa del carmen lets you do a beach receptions. I'm trying to decide between the beach and a terrace over looking the beach now!
