RIU Brides....

Recommended Posts

What package will you be doing?

Are you able to upgrade and customize the free package or do you have to get the Caprice in order to upgrade and do what you want with the wedding?

Thanks!

Oh, PS I'm leaning heavily towards RMB but would love to hear from all RIU brides (past and future)

THANKS

i was originally getting the highest package, i can't remember the name. but after being on this board i realized it was more cost effective to get the free package and upgrading from there. also the number of people i was planning on attending get a lot smaller.

i am a ror bride, but i think the policy is the same.

Danyelle - have you searched thru all the Riu Ocho Rios threads in the JA section? There have been so many ROR brides that I am pretty sure you can find the information that you need in some existing threads. Not sure about RMB, but I would guess their policys are the same.

I am also going with the free package. A lot of my "upgrades" are coming from stores here in the US and we are bringing them down with us. The cake is also outsourced. I think that the only thing that I will have the RIU provide is the tulle for the gazebo.

I am also an ROR bride.

Most brides tend to qualify for the free package and do a la carte. I did the Royal package because I knew I wanted certain things (the little extras) and also because I did not like the decorations with the free package. Well not that I did not like it, it just was not enough. So I would recommend starting with the free. factor in all the things you want and if it makes sense compared to the Royal, go for it. Either way, your day will be beautiful I am sure of it.

I know there are extra charges for using outside vendors, though...does anyone know how much more extra it is to use someone else for your flowers, decorations, cake or photographer besides the ones used by the ROR?

We have asked my FI's cousin to take pictures for us but he's not a professional by any means, do you think they will still charge you if it looks like you brought an outside photographer in? He does have a pretty nice professional-looking camera with lenses...LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
