Alright, thanks for the advice. So I just went online and found a dressmaker about 20 minutes away, and I just talked to her for about 20 minutes! She's been making wedding dresses for 25 years and she sounds like she knows her stuff! She even has a website with some dresses that you can order and the prices are sooo much better than at the bridal salon! I'm so excited. She did tell me that she can't exactly copy a designers dress, so she asked me to send her several that I like so she can create a sketch for me that incorporates a couple of dresses.

I'm so excited! Gotta go pick some dresses to send her, I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks girls! I think she will be really reasonable, I saw a couple on her site that I really liked for 399 & 499, so if she can make mine for 7 or 8 hundred or even less, I will be soooo happy. And I'll just sell the one I have.

I swear it was a miracle. I've looked for dressmakers several times and never saw her ad. She was so nice and you could tell she knows her stuff.

So I will let you know the details once I talk to her!

I say get your dream dress!!! Somehow i find that money always finds you for things like this. Your wedding day is the one day in your life that you get to be a princess and something tells me you need tha dress to feel like the perfect princess. You may only be wearing it for a few hours but the image of you in the dress live forever in your pictures! Go for it! Cut back on the favors...no one really cares about those anyhow! wink.gif

Jill somehow I never saw this thread, so I am so sorry that I am late to this (didn't want you to think I was being unsupportive). I think the seamstress idea is a great idea. However if she can't get you what you want then I think you should get the dream dress. I know it's a lot of money but this is your wedding. Think of how beautiful and special you will feel. That dress is amazing I have to admit. You will look like such a princess. Remember you are not only marrying your best friend and the love of your life that day, but you are also marrying the man that gave you your beautiful daughter and that is def worth a $1,500 dress!!!

Awww, thanks Glenda! You know somedays I say its 1500 dollars and I'm going to have the dress of my dreams and be so excited on my wedding day and then other days, I say I can't spend that much on a dress, I'd rather have it to spend while we're in mexico.

I'm still waiting for the sketches, I hope she gets back to me today!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
