Hi snakcake :))xxxx

I really hope you will hear back from Yanna soon, so you will be able to move on into official planning mode ;D As jessicalynneh said, it takes WC's some time to get back with "officially" confirmed date, but don't worry it will happen to you very soon :)) lol But in the mean time, reading this forum can take your mind slightly off :)) I am so excited for you, I remember when we were waiting for our date to be confirmed, when Yanna emailed us Yes to it, its like it hit us then "wow that's it we are definitely getting married on 6th March!!! :)" lol

Regarding your decision to make it "legal" in your home town, I think its brilliant to be honest, you sort of extend celebration of your marriage even longer and saving some money as well :)) We are having ours two weeks before we go and it falls on Valentine's day lol :D

Do definitely post your wedding date here  as soon as you will find out and we can all start a new list of brides and wedding dates with all new brides included :))xoxo

I'll be sure to share them as they fall into place. We have also decided to secretly make it legal here in the US (we're from Pennsylvania) before we go. I just can't justify spending all the $ on translation fees, etc. The symbolic ceremony on the beach will be our "real" wedding day anyway. Thanks for sharing your plans ...  sounds perfect!

I'll let you know when Yanna confirms our date... hopefully it won't be much longer!!

:o)

Hi Jessica hun :))xx

Hope you are well :))

We are having a very intimate wedding, only 14 of us all together, but they are definitely coming :D It is one of those things with guests, when you tell everyone you will be having destination wedding, everyone is over the moon and definitely coming lol, but than later on some people realize they wont be able to come... But as long as the most important people are there for both bride and groom, that is all that matters :)

When we will get back from DR, I will definitely post a full blown review and tones of pictures, for all of you brides to see :))) and put your mind at ease that everything is going to be perfect on your special day :))x

Oh, do you have a picture of your dress??? :)) Please do share it with us if you do, would love to see it! I don't have picture of me in the dress, but will definitely have one after my first fitting 15th December! :D here is a picture of my dress from their website:

I went for a traditional dress, cos it made me feel the best to be honest :D Ladies please share your pictures too!!! :))

Regarding outside vendors, there was a bride on here who used them for her cake and flowers, I have email addresses if you like, but I am not sure just yet what is difference in price from the resort prices as I am still awaiting my quote from her :) The lady's name is Fanny and her emails are: [email protected] and [email protected]

It is always worth emailing and seeing what deal can she make you :))

xoxo

Snakcake, it took Jenny & Yanna about 3 weeks to *officially* confirm our date after we sent the signed papers & deposit in, so no worries - they're just busy! When we went to visit in July, we saw Jenny running around all the time - theres only the 2 of them and they do about 350 weddings a year - crazy!

Amurka & Chanelo, how many people do you have coming to the wedding? Congrats, thats so exciting that your weddings are so soon, I cant wait to see your pictures!! What do your dresses look like? I just bought mine - so exciting, it will be ready in March, I can't wait until I have it in my size!

Have any of you ladies looked into outside vendors for flowers and/or cake? We have quite a few people coming and the resort charges $30 per pound for the cake - which seems really high to me?? Also I have 9 bridesmaids so I was going to try and see if I can find bouquets for less than $75, which is what the resorts prices start at. Any suggestions?

All of us 2012 brides..time is flying by I cant believe it already!! Its been stressful planning!! I'm nervous about the flowers down there.  I really love roses and would love to make the bridesmaids my bouquet and about 6 center pieces all roses.  I'm afraid that its going to be a fortune.  I have about 32 people booked already. More then I ever thought would come so thats kind of exciting.  Hope everyone else is having some fun wedding planning!!! :)

All...

Congrats to all 2012 brides!!!!...my date is May 4 '12.

I've booked the Ocean grill+terrace for my reception; I visited the resort in 2009 but don't remember much of the restaurants. I'm really nervous I'll arrive and will like the other locations better. The one down thing about booking some of the restaurants is that I believe they are subject to an approx 11pm ending time, vs booking a ballroom which will have lesser restrictions with time.

But I suppose if my reception is subject to the 11pm ending time - then it should be easy to leverage the momentum of the reception and have everyone meet at the resort's disco right after?

CynMay,

We're having our reception in the ballroom, and if we want to have it past 11pm, it is $5/per person per hour.  I think she said this is an option for other venues as well.

Amurka,

Your dress is beautiful!! Mine is more traditional as well =)

I have to find a good picture of the front of mine - I HATE the one on the designer website, it really looks nothing like what the actual dress looks like from the front!

Here is a picture of it from the back - it looks just like this, but in the picture you cant see that there are little rhinestones all over (lining the top of the dress, and over the bodice of it - nothing crazy but its not as plain as it looks in this picture):

Hi Jessicalynneh,

Do you have confirmation about the $5/hr per guest after 11pm?  The price I got was $10/hr + 26% tax per person per hour after 11pm.  I'm having my reception in the ballroom in order to extend the time and to enjoy the a/c  :o)

My wedding is in less than 2 months!!!

As for flowers, I went with an outside vendor in Santo Domingo - the lucky thing for me is that my husband has family in Santo Domingo so they are going to bring the flowers in the day of the wedding so I saved a lot of money.

Ladies, your dresses are both beautiful!  I went with a more traditional dress as well with a short chapel train - super excited to wear it!  My first fitting is next week!

Hi brides! it's great to see a bit more activity on this forum of late! Amurka, I too am counting the days until we leave, our wedding isnt until the 24th but we depart dublin on the 20th so i'm counting down to then! so it's 118 days and counting! pinkie.gif your dress is FABULOUS!!!!! I'll try to find a pic of mine and upload it :) Jessica your dress is amazing too!! as for the bridesmaid bouquets - I have decided to have parasols instead of bouquets and found the most amazing ones on ebay from a chinese seller - they arrived the other day and they really are fab, they're a light fabric, (although I thought i was buying paper parasols!) so I'm getting wrist corsages for the girls or a flower to attach to the parasol to add a little floral :) they parasols were, like, $4 or something!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
