haha ya i am not the cook in the house either but if i ask FI for something other than what he wants to make for dinner I end up either making it myself (which doesnt happen often) or just eating what he is making :)

I'm with you Danielle. My problem is, if DH doesn't feel like eating what I'm cooking then he really won't eat it - then I end up with leftovers that end up going bad. A lot of the time its just easier for me to make what he wants, or make his separately. He almost never asks, I just know what he likes. For example, if I am making mac & cheese I will make a plain one for him & one with chicken & veggies in it for me. Or if I feel like mashed potatoes I will make them, but I will put a potatoe in the oven for him. I don't go out of my way to cook an entirely different meal - and he doesn't expect me to. So...to answer your question Jaq I would say yes he is rude if he seriously expects you to make a different meal for him!! Although, you are probably encouraging him to do this by making different meals for him before. I would tell him to piss off & don't expect it! If sometimes he gets something different then he should be thankful (or risk starvation!! lol)

he is really hard to cook for because he gets on his health kicks. (right now he is on one b/c maui is coming up) im a girl who likes to eat and by that, i dont mean un healthy foods. ..i eat my meals during day, lighter ones and for dinner i like to fricken EAT. and he is such a rabbit with his salads and wraps, and tuna. that is fine and good, but they are just lunch foods to me, not DINNER. im going to tell him casually tonight and update u all tomorrow on how it goes hahaa.

I would just tell him (nicely-cause it's def. not worth a fight or anything) this is what i'm having so if you want somehting else you can make it. That's what FI and I do. Most of the time he'll eat whatever i'm making but i know what he likes and doesn't and how he wants it (so sometimes i'll make him different things (if it's not twice as much work)

this works great for me becuause if i cook then he always cleans (i'd def. trather make the mess than clean it)!

Good luck with Dinner!! :)

See i'm kind of like your FI lol I never used to cook and FI would always make me something different to him because generally I don't eat the shit he will lol

But now I kind of cook it boils my piss when he decides what I'm having for my tea lol Just because he has no portion control and I end up giving over half to the dogs and thinking jesus that's 2 meals lol

We have an understanding now lol If I don't want what he has cooked then I'll just do something for myself its not a prob lol

I suppose its different for us tho as he's never home so i might not seem him for 6 weeks then he's there for a week controlling my life lol

Soooooooooooo say I'm having this either have the same or poke off you fussy get lol that's what FI says to me sometimes lmao

Oooh, I'd be upset. And I do have that happen to me with my FH too. I just tell him that I don't care if he doesn't like what I'm making, and he needs to get out of his bubble and try something new. And when he really doesn't like what I make, he eats some of it and then has a bowl of cereal. Which is fine because then I have more food to take for my lunch the next day.

I agree with the other ladies, I'd be upset... well, unless he was joking.

I grew up in the household where if you didn't like what was being made, make a PB&J. End of story. Momma was NOT going to make me a special meal. No way!

I don't think you really need to tell him nicely. Tell him what you are making, if he doesn't like it, he is a big boy and can make his own food. It isn't your job to slave in the kitchen to make everyone happy, they can eat what they are given.

I'd just ignore him. And if he mentions it at dinner I'd say "oh, I thought you were joking! I thought you respected me more than that!"
