Holy sh-moly!

Sorry you had to go through all the crap.... I too had a "difficult" photographer, so I think going with someone else is THE best decision you made!

Kudos to Morgan for helpling you out too-- how generous!

And kudos to you as well...it's not always easy to give a "bad" review...

Good luck!!

Heather -

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this...it isn't fair at all...it was a little thing that she blew out of proportion and you are totally right in wanting other girls to know and I know all future brides appreciate it.

We're all here for you and you made the right decision!

Morgan - you are awesome - I know that helped Heather tremendously!

Heather! Wow, so glad it is over for you. What a nightmare... and I know that you are being tactful and nice about everything.

You are on to bigger and better... it is so worth it to feel comfortable and as stress free as possible on your wedding day. That is priceless.

Heather that's an awful experience but i'm so glad that Morgan was able to help you out. That's super sweet of her. And it sounds like you definately made the right decision to get rid of [photographer name removed] , she sounds like a high maintenance photog.

Do you already have the new photog picked out?

I remembered something else I wanted to post. I decided that I no longer felt comfortable recommending [photographer name removed] to anyone around the time that she was banned from BDW. I asked the mods to remove all of my reviews of [photographer name removed].

Previously, I believed her when she said that she did not ask her other clients to deal with all the stuff I had to deal with. When I booked her, it was only her second destination wedding and she was very uncomfortable with traveling to Mexico. I knew I was getting into a more stressful situation from the start. I didn't know how stressful it would become.

Anyone who watched me plan my wedding probably knows what an emphasis I put on not dealing with stress once in Mexico. I wrapped up my planning a month early to relax before the wedding. I also avoided adding many things to my wedding that would give me too much to do in Mexico. But, I ended up dealing with a problem with [photographer name removed] reservation the two nights before my wedding. In retrospec, I realize this should not have been my problem to deal with. it was not a mistake I made & I was never sent the receipts to me so I'd have the chance to catch the mistake. But, I spent several hours on Thursday night dealing with this when i could have been at a beach party with our guests. Then on Friday after a full day in the sun on our excursion, I had to return to dealing with the issue. Luckily, Mike's sister stepped in and took care of things.

A true professional would never have gotten me involved in this issue. A professional would have taken care of it themself and let me enjoy my time with friends and family. I was terribly stressed out the night before the wedding and in tears over this issue.

I really regret not posting an full review of my experience. I was so completely happy with my pictures that at the time I probably would have hired her again. I wish I would have shared this story with Heather and possibly saved her a bunch of drama.

My advice when booking a photographer:

1. hire someone comfortable with international travel

2. find out if they have a good backup process. Pros have a system in place for protecting the images. You want to know your pictures are backed up several times. An example would be if they had a laptop with an external drive and backed up to the laptop, external drive & burnt some discs ASAP. All of these backups need to be in different locations so that if one bag is stolen they are not all gone.

3. Find out if they have proper backup equipment incase something breaks & a good plan for keeping their stuff safe.

Heather how aweful for you to have to deal with that! Who needs that kind of stress when planning the best day of their lives? Why don't these horrible vendors realize this? BOOOOO to them!

Have you picked out a new photog yet? Let us know who you do find!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
