Hi. We are just starting to plan ours. I am in MN and have weather like you, so we are waiting and having it June 13th.

We are having a tent at DH parents' house and booked a DJ... our group loves to dance I guess.

We are having some easy food catered and grilling. Havent got much further but need to be working on it now!

HAHA.. yeah ours is going to be in July!!! It -36 celcuis today... ONLY 11 days 'till we leave!! anyways...

we have our hall booked, but thats it! Are you sending out invites?? How "fancy" are you making them? Doesn't it seems like you are planning 2 weddings! What about food? I was thinking midnight lunch and serve tortillas and salsa at all the tables. We also plan on having a slide show of the wedding photos and showing the video of the ceremony. We live in a small town so my FI knows EVERYONE. There will probably be 250 people coming.

I am having an AHR too. We will have around 250 people there and it is going to be huge. We are having it 2 weeks after we get married in Mexico. I bought a second wedding dress to wear and we are going to have it catered with beer and wine being served. Also, we are having a bride's cake, groom's cake, huge ice sculpture of a fish on a wave, dance floor with DJ and maybe a band too....Whew! I do feel like I am planning a second wedding too! It is stressful, but I know it will be worth it!

I had actually booked a hall already, then realized that it would be cheaper (and easier) to have it at one of these nice fancy wedding places. I got all excited about it (looking at the menu and pictures and everything) But then we decided we just don't have the money. I guess that's what i get for getting married 6 months after i got engaged! I was really sad at first, but i'm better now. I think instead we'll have a giant pool party at the house with all of our friends and family.

I am using a local caterer whose own location is a refurbished train station. It is really nice without being too fancy. We are having stations with a nice variety of food and a DJ. We are skipping all of the wedding stuff (special dances, cake), but have a really nice party. My FI will be wearing his wedding stuff again, but I am getting a nice linen dress to wear.

I'm just getting into my AHR planning now ... we are going to have a semi-formal cocktail at my parent's home in Alexandria, Ontario in August. They have a great big backyard and their horses and 3 donkeys come up to the fence that meets the backyard so that'll be cool for the guests. Plus, they have a great pool which will be awesome for the children who are coming.

We're sending out formal invites just before we head down to Cuba and asking for a response by end of June so we have solid numbers to do final preparations all through July as August 1st is our AHR date as of now.

We're looking at approx. 100 people ... and as I said it will just be a cocktail with servers doing all the heavy lifting for the food and an open bar with a friend of the family tending for a select few drinks (it will be stated on the invitation that we'll be offering red wine, white wine and a special Cuban cocktail).

We'll also have a picture slide show running with images from our wedding and a guest book to sign as well as mini individual cakes (not cupcakes!) for each guest instead of a big wedding cake we have to cut. :)

So far ... those are the plans!! I'll let you ladies know how things are REALLY going to pan out closer to the date. LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
