Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!

Recommended Posts

The dance floor is shared between 3 resorts & so may or may not be available to use on your chosen date. It is $180 to rent. The sooner you start booking everything (and of course paying) the better chance you will have at the dance floor. It is the same with the bands & dj's. They play at all the resorts so get booked pretty early.

As for heels on the beach I would say no unless you are using some sort of solid platform underneath a runner. We went to a wedding in Mexico & the bride wore heels and had to take them off 1/2 way down the ailse after her father was basically pulling each of her feet out of the sand. Every step she took her heels sunk into the sand & hand to pull out with some force. It was not graceful.

I attached some options & prices from the resort for flowers & decor. You can also send pics to Amber & she will contact the florist for a price to re-create the look. They can do pretty much anything as long as you are willing to pay for it!

I just got a bunch of pics today from Amber showing the standard set up for the ceremony, what additional extras are available, pricing, reception set ups etc. I saved them on my computer at work so I will try to post tomorrow. I think it's pretty much like sherric80 said - you can pretty much get what you want, for a price!!

you are getting married the day we arrive. i will look for you. What kind of reception are you having? I am so torn about spending the money to get the 3 hours since everyone there will be staying @ the resort and everything is included already..... ugh
I cant open those attachments yet since i dont have enough points so i will get busy posting stuff..... thanks though!!

I'm trying to take a little break at work and thought I would share some of the info I received from Amber. I'm going to try and attach some pics showing some of the options for the ceremony set up.

I have more, but I have them in jpg and it's not letting me upload any jpg files, and others are just large so I'll have to print them to pdf's and post them later.

HI!

I'm really late joining since our wedding date is only 4 weeks away. I've been so busy I haven't had time to really focus on the wedding.

I have so many questions about the ceremony and reception at Beaches Negril. We are getting married 9.9.09 and had planned on a 2 hr. reception afterward. We haven't paid for the reception yet because I'm still not sure I want it. We are expecting about 30 guest including children (our own are 12 and 4). Mostly older family. They are still getting used to the idea of a destination wedding so my mom kinda pushed for the reception because its a traditional element.

I don't know what to do about flowers because what's offered at the resort seems limited and florist outside the resort seem just as expensive and I'd have to have the flowerd delivered the day of the wedding which might stress me out if something goes wrong.

What about aisle runners? I don't see them mentioned anywhere in Beaches stuff but I'd really like to mess up my dress a little as possible (that dress was expensive!). Then there is the set up of the reception. With just 30 people Amber said that would be 3 round tables outside. Sounds nice but with nothing but white linens sounds boring. The centerpieces are affordable but what else is there to add other than the overpriced lighting they offer?

My cousin is a photographer and coming to the wedding. Will I get flack for him doing our photographer instead of the resort? It would mean so much more if my cousin did it.

Finally- I've been told by some other destination brides (not Beaches Negril though) that the hair and make-up was a rip off. What was your experience?

Whew! That's it for now. Anyone have suggestions, answers, etc.??

Thanks!

i am getting married there oct 3 pretty soon after you are there.

I was originally going to have the Sunset Carribean package but then last week i canceled it and moved it to 3pm. the cost for the package seemed to be adding up and up with the changes i was making.

now after reading this whole thread i have realized that a lot of the decisions to be made can wait until you are there on site with the WC @ the property..... thats a releif to me.

Somethings I have noticed though are if you want a particular spot @ the resort for your reception you might want to save that so no one else gets it first..... I havent been to the resort so I am not sure where I want to do things yet I guess i will decide when i get there.

Sounds like they have a really great florist not to sure what to think about the photographers but im under the impression you have to use theirs with no other choice, i really hope they are good!

I'm trying to respond to some of nanikaye's questions but it's not letting me do a "quote" - it keeps telling me that my response is too short? So I'll try to post my answers separately below - hope this works!

1) I have to say I'm not too thrilled with their selection of flowers either, however it's not because what they offer is ugly, it's just that I have particular colors/flowers in mind. I'm assuming that they can probably get what I want for an additional charge, but I have a feeling that their additional charge is more than I want to pay. I do know that they have a "no outside vendors" policy, so I don't believe you are allowed to bring in your own florist, but I could be wrong. This is why I am leaning towards using real touch flowers and just bringing them down to Negril with me.

2) I know they have aisle runners available (for an additional charge of course!) as I have seen them in some of the pics that Amber has sent me. I don't have exact pricing though as I haven't really asked about that yet. I'm going to be doing a TTD, most likely in my actual dress so not worried about sand at this point.

3) I know they have candles and can add floral centerpieces, rose petals, different colored linens, etc - but again, everything has a price. If we do the reception I'm planning on bringing my own table decorations with me. I can buy them much more inexpensively up here and then I can probably even sell them once we get back home!

4) Beaches is now allowing outside photographers as long as they are booking a minimum of a 3 night stay at the resort. I am bringing in my own photographer as well. I don't think you should have any problems with this, except you may want to notify them of your photographer selection.

5) I can't help you on this one, other than I think I'm doing my makeup myself (with the help of a couple lessons at the MAC store). Not sure about hair yet - I have a friend who's a hairdresser and I'm hoping he'll be able to make it to my DW and can help me with my hair :)

I don't feel very organized, lol, but I am trying!

I know how you feel when you don't have enough posts to open things. There were a couple of attachments that I was super interested in before I had enough posts; and I thought about asking asking the person who posted them to email me, but then I read you aren't allowed to do that or you could get banned! I don't know what I would do if I got banned from this forum - I need my daily fix :)

It doesn't take long for the posts to add up - just keep being active and you'll be there soon!

I will try and pass on what I have found out from Amber -

Flowers/colors - email pictures to Amber of what you want then she will contact the florist for pricing. They can do anything. You can even mail color swatches or ask for them as well - I did!

Photographer - you can have a member of the wedding party do them even if they are staying at a different resort. They just don't want competition from the island photographers.

Table Decor - they have standard centerpieces that are included in the 3 hour reception. I am not sure what they look like, but they are at no additional cost. Remember that you will have to pay extra at the airport if your bag is over 50lbs I think! Make sure to wiegh your bag with all the decor before you go!

Hair/Make-up - I am having my hair done because my hair never cooperates when I need it too! Make-up I am doing myself. I haven't heard anything bad about the hairstyles, but have heard that the make-up is sometimes over the top.

Beach Ceremony - chairs are white, ladder back style. petals for the flower girls must be real - no silk because of environmental issues.

Picking locations - the resort will take you on a tour the day after you arrive of all the locations you can choose from for the ceremony & reception. There will also be a book in your room with all the different options. You don't have to pick out anything or pay before you arrive.

KGEECEE -

We will definately have to meet up after you arrive! or you can check out our ceremony & reception decor when you get there. Our wedding is at 5 on the beach with the ceremony following on the beach. We picked the PB Sunset collection. We are doing the 2 hour reception, but paying extra for the DJ to stay 3 hours & are having a dance floor. I am taking extra decor for the ceremony because all we have is the arch & white chairs. I am taking fushia satin chair sashes & having the resort make some decor out of bamboo sticks (7' tall) and wrapping them in ribbon so the excess ribbon will blow in the wind at the top to stake in the sand by the aisle. I am also bringing freeze dried flowers for the aisle & flower girl to throw and making program fans for each guest.

Is anyone doing OOT bags? If so what are you putting in them & when do you plan on giving them out. We are doing them & so far I am putting in mugs.....and I don't know what else yet or when to give them out. We have guests coming in on Saturday & Monday.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
