Palace Resorts - outside photographer?

Recommended Posts

im getting married at the beach palace and I am using an outside photographer but do have to pay an $88 day pass. I had it written into my contract originally ( a PITA by the way lol) but now they aren't charging me the other $250 fee they charge for using their electric and non-sense, So if you really want to get married at a palace resort you can work it out.

Are you booked?  Once you book and have a coordinator you will be able to get this type of information from her/him.

I too hired an outside photographer but ONLY after getting it IN WRITING that I was allowed to have him and only needed to purchase day passes for him and his assistant.  Their in house photographer for Playacar Palace had like 10 sample photos. LOL  I was like, "ummm.....no".  I think if you just put your foot down and state, "If I can't have a photog of my choosing I'll have to look elsewhere" you won't have issues.  My TA also helped me with getting everything arranged.  The woman has been a life saver!

Cool. Thanks. I will ask when they call me to finalize my date. I just can't imagine that they would employ a photographer that isn't at least decent...that would just be counter productive lol. I know many girls must use the onsite guy to save money or the work of hiring an outside vendor, but I can't seem to find anyone who has used the onsite photographer at beach palace...makes you wanna pull your hair out!!!

Hi Roxy!

I have spoken to a bride that used the onsite photographer at BP...trying to find her info now. She also sent me her pics and they were decent but I did personally want a bit more uummmpphhh in my photos if that make sense. Her words to me were " I did not love the resort photos but we got a couple good ones." She wrote a review on here as well.

I don't think the resort photogs are a particular company. When I was there they were all wearing Kodak shirts. They have a stand inside near the spa for people to schedule photo shoots and see pics that have been taken but I don't think they are company on their own, IMO this is why they didn't quite meet my expectations. They are the same photographers that run around snapping random pics of people at the resort to sell.

Once I finish this up I'll try to find her review and direct you to it. :)

Hi Ashley! Thanks for the help!

Wow...that is scary if that's the case.  I would think being that it is people's once in a lifetime moment that they would hire a dedicated wedding photographer!  I really do appreciate the help.  With Palace resorts you don't really talk to anyone onsite until three months before the wedding, which kind of puts you in a bind since everyone will be booked.  I was hoping to use my "resort credits" on the photographer to save money...but I will definately find money if it's that drastic.

I have shoot in Aventura Cove, Cancun Palace, Moon Palace, PlayaCar Palace and all the request a night stay for the outside photographer, and I am not talking about one time visit, in some, more than 6, but for sure you need to call the resort and make sure they have not change the vendor outside policy.

Good luck on your planning!

Ivan

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
