Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

We are getting married stateside and doing a vow renewal in Jamaica.  It just makes more sense for us.  The process will be easier, with less foreign paperwork and hassles to do with.  Plus we know that are marriage will be recognized immediately.  Versus getting married in Jamaica (or elsewhere outside the country) you may have to wait several months to receive your paper work and then you have to wait for it to be accepted by your state.  I think people will understand if it's a vow renewal.  We view the Jamaica wedding as the "real" wedding.  The stateside marriage just covers the legalities.  You need to figure out what will work best for your needs/desires.

So I just had an interesting experience... Was just browsing the January Brides forum and came across a posting by a bride stating that she not only has the same resort booked as me but ON THE SAME DAY. Her tag line states that she's having her ceremony on a private beach, no problem, but her reception at the Rose Hall Beach. Not to sound petty and that the resort's not big enough for the both of us but what happened to the "one wedding a day" policy? I mean the resort if fairly small and if I wanted to feel like I was in a wedding factory bumping into other brides left and right I would have gone to a Sandals. Has anyone else encountered this? Obviously there's nothing I can do 2 weeks before the wedding but a big part of why we chose this resort was their promise of this being our special day, I feel very mislead.

Oh no! that is horrible!!!! I am sure she would probably feel the same way!!! they clearly state one wedding per day... i would definatly email Silvia.. or even phone!! and ask her what is going on... make her explain! cause that is not right.. for you or the other bride! we pay top dollar to be the only brides.. but it is definately worth an email or phone call to the wedding coordinator.

please let us know what comes out of it!!

I would def send an email to the WC to confirm if it is true and to express your concerns. Obviously your wedding should take priority since you are having you wedding on property and they should not allow a 2nd reception. Ugh how stressful, I am so sorry!!! I am with you... that is why we chose the resort too. You still have time to express your concerns!!

If I were you I would confirm your date and let the WC know about your concern. Iberostar's policy is that they only have one wedding per day at the beach suites and grand. Look into that!

I agree call Silvia and find out if any of the other bride's events (welcome dinner, bonfire etc) are going to conflict with yours.  The nice thing is that she won't be getting married there.  Let's just hope that her party isn't large and that the quality of service won't be compromised due to two events happening on the same evening.  Although from what I've read, I get the impression that the WC caters to YOU when you have your wedding on the property.   That's just my opinion.  The other bride would have had to coordinate her wedding with an outside company, so I wonder how much IRHB will be involved at the resort events besides providing reception service and food.  That's something you should ask.

Anyway technically you are the bride that day at IRHB!  Don't worry, everything will work out beautifully.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thnaks Ladies,

the one wedding a day policy is exactly why we booked Rose Hall. I assumed that this applied to receptions just as much as ceremonies but perhaps not. I have already emailed Silvia and plan to follow up with a phone call this afternoon if I haven't already heard back from her. I'm not going to hold a grudge against anyone for this but I do feel that they broke policy here and a discount or free bonfire is in order. I'll let you know what happens....

I re-read your posting just to be sure I understood, it sounds like from what you read the other bride's ceremony will be held off-site and she's going to head back to the resort with her wedding group for the reception.. right? I think that as long as your first choices are not comprimised, I'm not sure there is really an impact to you or anything the resort can do about it... If you got what you wanted for your big day, and the WC is focused on you and your wedding, then they are living up to their policy.  At the end of the day, there really could be a few other brides the same day as you if they all had their wedding ceremonies off-site, and they all decided to come back to the resort for dinner, they probably could, so long as it's not a private reception I guess. Plus, given there's only one disco, you're bound to run into other brides at the disco later on.  Now don't get me wrong, I too took into consideration their one wedding per day policy when selecting the resort but at the end of the day, it's really a one wedding *ceremony* per day policy. As far as the welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, etc... these are not wedding ceremonies and you'll be competing with other brides anyhow to book them.  And finally, I wouldn't be surprised if I happened to see another bride when I do my TTD shoot, again, not something the resort can/should control, as long as they aren't getting in the way of your wedding, you should be great! I'm sure Silvia will do everything she can to make sure you have the day of your dreams!!! Just thought I'd throw in another perspective...

Question for all you ladies that have already been to the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach resort... can you please comment on the beach itself?? I recently heard from a friend that her friend/family member went to this resort a few years back and the sand was actually more like tiny pepples and less like soft sand.. I haven't read/heard of this anywhere, and i've searched the trip advisor reviews as well as these forums.
Just curious... do you need water shoes?? I really hope not, I thought it was a really nice sandy beach, from what I've read it's about a km of beach at the Beach resort and there's very little seaweed but that it is cleaned up daily. No mention of rocks, pebbles, etc...

Thanks!!

Hey beachbum21,

I might be able to help you out....I've been to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and other beaches worldwide, however not the exact IRHB location.

We used water shoes when we went on a day trip to climb Dunn's River Falls (Ochos Rios).  In fact, they sell them right at the falls because you are required to wear them while climbing, since the stones can be quite slippery. So, if you plan do this excursion I would highly recommend getting them. You can find them at a very affordable price at Walmart or Canadian Tire (less than $10 Cnd-this was around Dec 2010).  My FI thought ahead and bought them just in case.  Like you said the beach sand isn't fine and powdery like other well known beaches in the Caribbean, so it's good to have them handy.  The level of seaweed etc depends on the season.  Hope this helps.
Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
