I am actually trying to go in with someone else on buying a case so that the cost will be cheaper, (from the Sky Lanterns!) thread.  We are getting white ones.  So, I know this isn't the thread for that...but if anyone wants in on the case of them, it will be cheaper if we buy in bulk and then ship to each other! :)

Hi,

I'm researching the idea of lanterns for my upcoming Suites wedding and wanted to ask - were you able to release them? I've seen some posts where brides said they couldn't, although it seems it comes down to weather vs. the WC saying they couldn't.

Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that the Suites provided the fuel - is that correct?

Thanks!

Unfortunately the pictures were not good, the photographer did not use our suggestions AND the lighting was horrible and pictures came out fuzzy. I just wanted to share my experiance I would not want future brides to have bad wedding pictures... That was just my opinion!

Hmm, interesting.  We decided to go with DigiPix in January because they offered smaller packages and we don't need 200 pictures, and hadn't budgeted $1500 for pictures (which seems to be the average price with photographers for small packages).  I checked DigiPix's website and some pictures look good and others are horrible... Has anyone else had any other experiences with them?  I would hope out of all the pictures they will take, we could find at least 35 good ones!

We went for a site visit last May, and they took our pictures on the beach.  (they walk around all day taking them and you can go to their office to purchase)  I refused to buy even one of them.  They were definitely overpriced and very low quality.  My only advice to you, your day will go so quick you won't remember half of it... is the gamble worth not getting quality pictures?

Thank you all for the comments on the resort salon, I have booked them for hair and make-up :)  One less thing to worry about!

Sjay - i checked out Merrick's site and he work looks great, much better than a lot of other photographers I have check out.  I was wondering if you would mind also sending me his info when you get a chance ([email protected]).  I am also looking for a smaller picture package, with coverage for 2 or 3 hours and a DVD with the pictures, nothing fancy :)  Thanks so much!

I don't know what you've decided, but I'm using SunGold's Associates (Clayton is our photographer) for our pictures.  They do hourly pricing also.  The pricing sheet I have is $400 per hour and includes a DVD so you can print them at home.  Even if you did 3 hours that would be less than $1500.

We have a 3 session package, so we did engagemnt pictures with Clayton in May.  They came out beautiful!!  And he was so much FUN to work with!! You could even budget and do a 2 hr session with him for $800.  I can get you his info if you'd be interested.

ew that sucks.  but thanks for the feedback :)  i have a few emails out to get some prices so I will continue with that.  I actually received Clayton's info from Paula yesterday so that's great to hear you enjoy working with him and his work was good! I have asked her a few questions so will wait for her reply.

Does anyone happen to know what the fee is to bring a photographer onto the resort? I know some cover it for you but just want to know in case I find someone that doesn't cover it.  Not sure if its a day pass or vendor fee or if it all depends on the amount of time they are there?

Thanks!

As far as I'm aware you are to just pay a Vendor fee (which is $100) and not a day pass as they are not using the resorts facilities (like a guest would)

I booked Misha Earle and she does cover this fee, you could check her out as well.

Whew... I finally made it though all 538 pages of this forum!! It answered many questions but also generated more anxiety and fret over little details, which I'm trying to avoid doing!! Ahhhh... Ok. So, I've decided against battle Tia Flora and decided to bring real touch flowers for bouquets/bouts. Does anyone have any experience with AFloral.com or Lily Of Angels (packages available on Ebay). Also, we plan to do the Steel Pans Band for ceremony/champagne. Did past brides provide them with specific songs or just let them wing it??? I see a lot of brides are doing the Beach party after dinner...has anyone had a cocktail hour (or two hours) following dinner? I trying to figure out what options would be for this...wanting to do open bar and DJ for an hour or two with speeches, 1st dance, etc before the Disco opens. I feel like the less I plan, the less expectations I will have, therefore, the less options for disappointment?!?!?! Thanks!

I finally heard from Tai Flora today, it was just a form email with a standard set of questions (name, wedding date & time, etc...) but at least I'm on their radar, hopefully! Hopefully it doesn't take another 6.5 weeks for the next one!

Thanks for the info everyone. Heather -  we had a look at Clayton's work and we both really liked it so we are going to go with him as well :) one less thing to have to worry about that day, the last thing i would want is to be worried that we won't have any good pictures from the day!

Oh thank goodness! I have to admit I am a little jealous too. They need to step it up big time.

I would recommend getting that form filled out and back to them ASAP. I've been waiting on my quote a month now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
