Trying to make a decision!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, pinkie.gif

My names Kirsty and my fiance Colin and I are in the final stretch of making a decision for our wedding in PV. It's tough....but this site has been sooooo helpful. Thank you to all of you who have posted reviews and opinions. Here's what were deciding between: (want to stay on South side of PV)

1. Dreams PV to stay and have wedding

2. Barcelo de la Jolla Misamloya to stay and have wedding (but I'm having a really hard time finding wedding info or wedding pictures for here to get an idea) Emailed them but they haven't responded.

3.Barcelo to stay and have wedding day at either Playa Fiesta or Le Kliff.

Any thoughtshuh.gifhuh.gif

Also We did have the thought of having the whole week at playa fiesta, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if that's going to be too expensive for our guests. Especially if everything is not all inclusive. We wanted to keep the cost for our guests at or below $1600 for one week including flight. Anyone have any idea if this is too low for Playa Fiestahuh.gif

Thanks Everyone! thewave.gif

Hi Kirsty,

When are you trying to get married? I'm a November '09 bride too - in PV!

I've only seen the Barcelo from the outside, but it looked really nice. We've looked at Playa Fiesta as well, and it's really nice (on our short list) but you definitely pay the price for it - we met with Hector and Priscilla (of Prisar Events) and comparing prices, let's just say the cost of the open bar is around 5x more at Playa Fiesta (for the wedding night). We didn't look at Dreams, but that's because some of our friends have already been to a wedding there (is that petty?!!) But I can say they definitely were in favor of the AI there and raved about the wedding - it's supposed to be really pretty.

I would say it's probably close to $1600 if not over to stay at Playa Fiesta, but it depends on how much the plane tickets are - and how long you stay. The rate at Playa Fiesta depends on whether you take over the whole hotel or only partial, and then you have to budget in the 27% tax plus the dinner/entertainment package you choose, and of course lunch.

I don't know if that's helpful, but hopefully it is! Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Thanks for the reply DB2B...it looks like we are going to go with Dreams for everything. It's the best price wise and has the set up we're looking for. The beach is apparently the nicest one in PV, they are just finishing renovations on one of their towers. Only thing is their pools are a bit small. Oh well. Playa Fiesta is gorgeous but too above our budget and we really wanted an AI resort. Barcelo looks great, but I've given up trying to get a response from them.

Dreams PV definitely has a really nice beach, and they take very good care of it. We just stayed there and although the pools are smaller than some other resorts it was never an issue. There was always room to hang out in the pool or at the swim up bar.

Good luck!
Ditto for me!

The decision is hard, but won't go wrong with any of them.

I stayed at Playa Fiesta in May and it would have been our first choice, BUT my FI wanted to have our ceremony on the beach and that wasn't an option and a few of my guests couldn't afford to stay for 5 days it was around $1800 if they didn't have roommmates.

Barcelo is great and Mismaloya is beautiful. It is a little out of the way, not bad at all but if you had to choose between there and Dreams I vote Dreams.

I visited Dreams in May and loved it for a resort. We aren't resort people at all. We are staying in a villa until our guests arrive then moving into the Dreams.

I am having my ceremony at The Dreams and working with Kristin from Dazzling Details, she is great, and Dreams lets her run her own show there. Which has made it very easy for us.

I have some photos of The Dreams Resort Beach area, if you would like them.

Our guests are paying $108 a night per person at Dreams, which I thought was a great price.

Let me know if you need contact info for a Travel Agent who works all of Mexico and has a great repor with The Dreams.

Happy Planning....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
