Sorry Andi- I should clarify. I didn't have transportation through LC- I only had 22 guests and I took 9 of them over to LC for the whole day. That left only 13 people to come over later. Nicole told me that it would be better if they just took cabs to the marina so that's what they did. However, when they arrived at the marina, there was no one there. They didn't know where to go and they were kinda walking around confused. Thankfully Brad (the minister) saw the group and guided them to where they needed to go. Unfortunately, 2 of my guests arrived separate from the group and they were completely lost and ultimately missed the boat. I didn't even realize it until after the wedding. OOPS.

I wish I could give more clarity on HOW they got confused and lost, but I never quite understand where they were in the marina and how they got turned around. But I do know that no one from LC was working the area since Rythms of the Night doesn't leave until much later.

Also- the morning of the wedding, when we went to LC it was a total mess too. We were so confused and the cruise director kinda left us in a spot away from the hub bub. We saw the LC boat loading and we panicked and had to ask the pirate workers where we could find some LC staff cause I thought they were forgetting us. It seems like the WC meets most of the brides at the marina, but we only met Kelley once we boarded the boat.

I should also note that I had NEVER been to PV's marina prior to this. That could have been part of the confusion too.

OHHHHHH! for some reason I thought your guests were on the buses that can be arranged through LC. doh.gif

yeah I bet it is a bit difficult trying to find the right spot in the marina especially if you haven't been there....

thanks for clarifying!

Yari,

I don't think this review is too harsh, I like that you are straight forward.

Although I am not an LC bride, I find your review (and other's reviews) very pertinent.

I think all brides can take away bits of advice!

Firstly - I love the idea of prewedding massages! - Firedancers - amazing idea!

On the 'Bad' Side - thank you for providing ideas of 'WHAT TO MAKE SURE OF' with the WC...

I think that everyone can take away a lesson or two.

PS> your pics are fantastic! you were STUNNING!

Yari, very well written. I still can't even believe your wedding has come and gone, it's crazy how time goes so fast!

I'm sorry about some of the mis communication that happened :o( It sounds like though that you remained positive through it all, and that's all that matters.

I would def write her a letter. Maybe even attached your review here to her. Good luck with whatever you do and let us know what she says if you do.

Yari - Thanks for the very honest and detailed review. I was starting to get a little nervous while reading some of the other reviews...like something has to go wrong! It turns out nothing can run completely smoothly, so thanks for detailing that in your review. The most encouraging part is that through it all you still can rave about LC and would definitely do it again!

I must admit I'm pretty surprised at some of it, having been married there myself and not had some of the issues you did. Nicole shouted at your parents about the cake, really? That so doesn't seem like her, not that I don't believe you, but wow! She was sweet as pie to us and our guests, especially my parents who raved about her. She packed up the cake for us...we weren't thinking towards the end and would have left it if not for her. I'm sorry your stuff didn't get passed out, I didn't have that issue, but I know how much work you put into your stuff.

It sounds like our boat rides were similar...I think all brides with a boat related wedding anywhere should know that seasickness is a very real possibility. Was your boat ride back smooth? It seems like the ride to LC is far worse than the return trip.

Overall I'm glad you are seeing above the trivial stuff and are just happy to have married Brian in a beautiful place. Your pics are awesome!!
I must agree with everything Jamy said! I'm so sorry not everything went as you had planned it...I'm so glad that you were able to look past it and enjoy your wedding - it was definitely beautiful and your pictures are phenomenal!

I was also surprised about the cake situation - that is so unfortunate! Nicole packaged our cake up for us really nicely in containers...unfortunately my cousin dropped them when he was getting off the boat back at the marina and we had cake mush too - which my dad then proceeded to throw in the garbage! I could have cried! (wait, I did cry!). If I remember correctly, I don't think my bubbles got passed out to my guests either, which was unfortunate (I don't think I ever mentioned that!) - especially when you do spend a lot of time and effort making everything perfect for your day!

All of that being said, I'm so glad that you were able to look past the small stuff and focus on the bigger picture - you married the man of your dreams in an amazing, beautiful ("dreamy") location!

Congrats again and thanks for posting your honest review - I'm sure all of the future LC brides (and non-LC brides) will find it extremely helpful!

Yari - I'm so sorry to hear about your upsets!!! I hope Nicole or Kelley does reply to this thread, because I feel nervous about all of this miscommunication. I am SO sorry you didn't have an isle to walk down!!!! It sounds like that may have been an unfortunate force of nature though... I'm guessing you had your setup facing the ocean and not the rocks? (I haven't seen your pics yet!) To me that is such a bummer, I'm so so sorry hun! I'm also feeling increasingly nervous about the boat rides over there.. not only for my guests but for myself as well! (I nearly got sick the last time I rode over in May) Eek. I'm really trying not to think about all of that though. Things happen. But I do hope that you can get some closure and hopefully talk through things with Nicole/Kelley. I'm sure it would be helpful for all involved!

I know you spent so much time planning this wedding, and am so sorry that things were so "off"... sad.gif

But I am glad to hear that you still had a great time marrying your man, and that you would still recommend LC!

I guess it's just a chance that all of us DW brides take. We just don't have the amount of control that we would if it were a local wedding. Kind of scary, but something we all need to realize and face going into this.

BIG HUGS! Your siggy pic is gorgeous! hug2.gif Can't wait to see the rest!!! :)

Thanks for being honest in your review. I've learned in my experince with wedding planning that there will be little things (and big things) that go wrong, no matter how carefully you plan.

You have the right attitude in that all that matter is that you and Brian are now married. That is the real reason we all go through this.

I'm glad you were able to focus on the positives and are able to look back on your wedding with fond memories.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
